Does anyone here have any experience with BC coilovers? I am considering them for my 09 Redline. All comments welcome. Thanks in advance.

Good value for a coilover if your looking change your ride height .... or not. Standard they come with 7k springs front and back but you can order different spring rates and also upgrade to Swift springs. Many find 7K in the front a bit much. I will be trying 6K front autocrossing this spring. I've had mine 5 years (25,000 KM) miles and no problems.

What would you recommend for the Sky. I want something that performs, but still want to have some comfort. I do not auto cross the car, but drive it pretty quickly in the mountains. I have some now that have been lowered, and they are just too low. Looking to change by the end of summer. Trust your wisdom on this rather than guessing or taking what could be recommended. I have not done any searching on it, but it seems Robo has messed with his some and changed springs. Would rather eliminate that step.

The 7 lb springs are stiff but suit my taste. If I were competing in the car I would probably fine tune that, but as I'm not, I'm happy with it.

I set the car up to my own specs and corner weighted it (just for the heck of it as the equipment was all there when I had it aligned). I set ride height at dead stock as any lowering would have resulted in bottoming going into my own driveway!

I don't have my alignment data handy but could look it up if you wanted it.

I suspect you wouldn't be unhappy with the 7 lb springs all around, but you can always chaneg them later if you were - I'd start with that.

Once mine was set up it handles very well indeed. You know how you can't see the instruments when it is sunny out? I was driving a nice deserted winding road with big sweepers at a comfortable speed with my wife beside me (she shouts out if she thinks I'm going too fast) and looked at the speedo when we went into shade in the middle of a corner at what I felt was a comfortable speed (which also met the spouse approval level as I heard nothing from the right seat) and noticed I was doing 100 mph through the corner....

I started with 7k all around and liked it on the street but then I like a stiffer ride.

For autocross, I noticed the front pushing a lot so I dropped down to a 5k front spring (and my stock front swaybar, Z0K sway in the rear) but now the car had too much front bite. I firmed the front shocks all the way and softened the rear all the way and this balanced out the car but I will be getting 6K springs up front eventually.

I would go for a ride in my car Bob, see what you think of the ride. If you like it, go 6k front and 7k rear. If it is too harsh, go 5k front 6k rear. For me, with 7k all around and the shocks to full soft, the ride was more than comfortable.

Robo - were you getting front push with stock sway bars, or....

It has been noted that the solo guys feel that the upgraded front bar is a bit stiff for solo courses and does promote some understeer (I find it is very suitable for normal road work though).

I started with 7k all around and Z0K front and rear anti-sway bars. I had a lot of push. I changed the front bar back to my stock front FE2 bar (note Redlines have the stiffer FE3 bar up front and the Z0K is stiffer yet...so I went from the stiffest bar to the softest bar) and while the push mid corner was less, the push at turn in was still there so I went with the 5Ks at that point.

Yes. Many members here and on the Solstice forum have them and like them very much. What are your questions?
I am wondering about their reliability, searching on the internet it seems for every good review there is a bad review. Just wondering what the consensus is among Sky / Solstice owners.

I have had mine on for going on 6 years and no issues. I like them very much.

You can set the ride height but also the preload so there is a lot of mechanical adjustability.

Generally speaking though you're preload on these are set and forget. About 5mm is all you need and with the linear springs they come with coupled with how you adjust the ride height independent of preload there shouldn't be much need to change preload.

I loved mine. I don't recall seeing a single negative comment by a kappa owner.

I had 5k Front and 6K rear with Front and Rear ZOK swaybars.
It was a little more stiff than the ZOK springs, and allowed me to set all 4 corners to the same rate.

It was the best suspension setup my sky had

Guess that isn't really your call to make now, is it?

For some who may not understand the full function of these adjustments, such detail can be overwhelming. Knowing that some adjustments, like preload, are generally not necessary to make helps (BCs come preset from the factory and the manual even says there is no need to touch it) make the prospect of getting and setting up a set of coilovers a bit less daunting. While having the ability to adjust preload is a great feature, no one will give a damn if they don't understand when or why you'd need to touch it. For most owners, it's a set and forget adjustment. You didn't mention that part so I figured I'd add it.

it's a forum. That's how it works.
Doesn't matter if you agree or not.
