ive looked at some pictures and tried to figure this out....

this car is going to be a bottom breather right? there are so many large openings in the front, that its leading me to doubt, but i thought i saw the intake sucking from the bottom.

anyone wanna speculate?

Look at these two images.
This is an old engine image (fairly old, just shown for comparison)

This is one of the newest engine area shots from the cutaway image.

However this is an engine view from one of the cars seen at one of the recent shows. It's probably the bes to get your ideas from.

It looks like it's gone from a very down low air breather, to still sucking air from down below but the air box is jsut a little higher up now.

thanks for the pictures....

in the cutaway one, i see the intake running to the box, then it looks like a flat tube runs from below it down to somewhere near the bottom of the grill. that sorta sits in front of the radiator. am i seeing this wrong? why wouldnt they just let the airbox suck it in right by the upper part of the grill? why would they need to block the radiator from cold air? why would they need more piping when less would do? im confused.

That thing you called a "flat tube" I believe is a panel routing air to the airbox. Then the air under that panel is directed to and flows through the radiator. I'm guessing - its hard to determine with the cutaway pic.

But dont worry about the air box and how the engineers designed it. The aftermarket will create a cold air intake with K&N filter for your car.. and all the ducts and airbox will be in either the trash or a box in your garage collecting dust for yrs..
