I really dont understand,I was suppose to get my sky end of May but my dealer just called to tell me that the chrome wheels are not available!:banghead:
I thougth that when they say that car has been preferrenced it means that they are gonna build it, that it was accepted for production???? Well I guess I was wrong. I am really pissed my car has been imaged since January and it's not even being built it's not like they didn't know that the release in Canada was May 11th.....

They don't have any more chrome wheels b/c they put them on all of the Skys that they've shipped to dealerships.

I'm in GA, so I decided to call all of the dealerships in the surrounding states (AL, TN, SC, & FL). I was surprised to see how many dealerships actually had Skys available for immediate sale. The only reason I didn't get one was b/c none of them had a silver pearl in a manual transmission.

It's like GM's mentality is "Let's get a few cars in all of the dealerships so people will pay to go on a list to personalize their Sky, but after they're on the list and we get their $500, <profanity deleted by moderator>.

Guess it's just GM's way of "borrowing" a bit of extra cash - interest free. Gotta love their business sense and their creative way of quickly generating extra funds, but it shouldn't be at the expense of the consumers who have been waiting to get the damn car. Especially when others can just walk up to a dealership and buy the car. Fuk GM!!! I hope those bitches go out of business after I get my Sky!

Also ran across something else that I thought was pretty interesting... Some dealerships are taking deposits of $500 that are now NON-REFUNDABLE!!! Can you believe this <obcenity removed by moderator>?

<obscenity removed by moderator> GM and the Saturn dealerships.

If you want your car faster switch to different wheels and you car will be made.

Constraints on a item could hold your car up for months.

Ummmmm....GM doesn't get the deposits that are put down on Skys. The dealer holds those deposits. GM does not sell directly to consumers. GM sells to dealers who sell to consumers.

My deposit was 10%. It is fully refundable until the vehicle is actually ordered from GM. It's like anything else that is not currently available--you can put down a deposit and wait your turn or not. Your choice.

I was contacted in March by my salesman and advised of the Chrome Wheel holdup. Per the salesman.... to get things rolling Saturn is now offering Polished wheels as a substitute......Do you want to switch???? I switched!!! and I am still sitting some 8 weeks later with Zip.. GM must have a death wish or something. GEE.... Lets make skys for dealers who don't have them sold so that those waiting for sold skys can wait????? I think things would have worked better if those dealers that had "SOLD" orders got imaged over those dealers just waiting for a sky in the showroom.... just my frustrated two cents.

<name calling and attacks removed by moderator>

Realize (even from posts on here) that GM invoices dealers for cars. The dealers then "own" the cars (dealer titles) and then sell them to the retail consumer (us). Your arrangement/contract is with a dealer, not GM or Saturn. As for how I know this, I am an attorney that also happens to represent the largest used car dealer in Delaware as its litigation counsel and, in conjunction with my main practice areas, also do a bit of consumer law and automobile warranty cases.

Although I understand your frustration with not being able to get your car, I am not to blame for it.

I agree ,I think Sold order's should come before dealer stock, but it's not that way. It depends on the priorty that your dealer put them in. Make sure your dealer changed the wheels like he was suppose to do, sometimes changes get all mixed up.

There are constraints on the chrome wheel's right through build out on the Solstice. ( end of model year )
I would imagine it will the same be with the Sky.You'll have to check with your dealer to see to what percent it will be on a weekly basis.

It certainly seems that some dealers are putting in their own orders (including additional vehicles) prior to the pre-ordered cars. I don't know if that's because some of the cars that are pre-ordered can't be ordered yet (due to constraints on wheels, trans, color, etc.) or whether the dealers are actually bumping customers' cars. If it's the latter, that's so wrong.

Their was a post two days ago from a dealer who said the order process had changed. Now the dealer enters the orders and the system will scan the orders if the order has options that are not available the order is pasted and the next is scanned. From my understanding under this set up a dealer order may not get picked up on any given week and he would have to wait, but I may not have this straight run a search on ordering…Seal9

That is correct from what I understand. When an order gets passed due to constraints another dealer gets that allocation. These are the cars that are coming in to dealers that are not preordered.

I believe the following post is what is being referred to about the new ordering system:

The process has changed and there are no more "images" as we knew them. The dealerships get a report during the week (not sure what day) that tells them how many cars (IONs, VUE's, RELAYs & SKY's) they have available to order on the following Friday morning. Dealers must have vehicles entered as PRELIMINARY ORDERS ahead of time and when Friday morning comes the system tries to "pick-up" a SKY for order, if there are constraints and the 1st SKY listed is equipped with one or more of the constrained items, it gets passed and the system tries the 2nd one, this happens up to 4 times (4 passes). If the dealer fails to order a SKY at that time because of the constraints then, that's it for that week and another dealer may get that "allocation." :banghead: In other words dealers must have a SKY that can be ordered in the system or they run the risk of loosing it to another retailer. (At least that is what I was told last Friday). Seems to me that is not a very fair way for some retailers that may not be on the ball when it comes to this new system but it should benefit those that are on top of things. You will also see some dealers ordering some "generic" SKYs so that if one of the "fancy" ones gets passed they have a better chance of ordering any SKY at the time of ordering.

Regards,

:willy: BA :willy:
This does stink. I think I liked the old system a little better, even though it seems like some dealers are getting more information from the new system once the order has been accepted.

Just curious...for the month of April and portion of May, Has anyone (who had switched their order from chrome to polished as I did in March) actually receive their sky yet? I am wondering if the polished are as back ordered as the Chrome and thats the reason my car is going nowhere. 8 weeks and counting!!!

Just to let you know the list of constraints come out on Thursday for Pontiac, might be the same for Saturn.
