Hey folks. If anyone is interested in taking out your kappa to a driver instructor course at Pocono Raceway, I attached a form at the bottom to fill out :D. The Delaware Valley Miata Club is hosting this event and as such, there is no roll bar or hardtop requirement since it's not from a sanctioned racing orginization. Normally, I wouldn't post such a lengthy form in this thread, but as I'm new to this board, I don't want to be asking people for their email addresses as it may raise some red flags with the moderators.

I got this from a friend who is on an the s2ki board. Subsequently, there will be several Honda S2000s there as well as Miatas and a few other makes. If your only 'track' experience is a drag strip, then you would fall under the novice category just as I. I believe novice and intermediate are full, but if you fill out the form you'll be in queue if anyone drops out. My S2k buddy was on the queued list when it was full and he was able to get in last year when people dropped

You may want to get on the wait list and see how far that goes before you put in for time off. Of course, with the ridiculous amount of PTO you get, I guess you don't need to worry about squandering it! :D

Is it confirmed that our cars can run in this? Normally we're not allowed at tracks due to our lack of a rollbar...

Yes, we are. ALL of the NA and NB Miatas (89-98 & 99-05 respectively) did not have roll bars either. Since this is: 1. just a driver instructor event and not racing and 2. it's sponsored by a miata club and not a sanctioned racing orginization we seem to be good to go. Put it this way, I signed up, putting my car info in, and I got in. Last year--I'm told--there were plenty of older stock Miatas running around on the track without roll hoops or anything of the sort. Why, think how many Miatas they woudln't be able to take if they had the same roll hoop parameters as SCDA and SCCA? So, I'm I 100% sure? No, not quite. But since I got accepted and there were plenty of other no-roll-hoop cars out there, it's a safe assumption that we are peachy.

I just sent an email to Jeffrey Jury, the Delaware Valley Miata Club Motorsports Director, with this very question to get an absolute yes-or-no on this. I'll let you folks know as soon as I receive an email back from him.

Thanks!

I'll be out west for a business during June and part of July, but if I'm back in time I'd be interested. I'm going tohave to wait to sign up till I've got a better idea of the dates for my trip, hopefully there will still be a few novice slots left...

Then the site is outdated. Jeff's email to me told me it was full. :(

Thanks!

I would get on the wait list now to increase your chances of making the cut and bail later if you have to.

My email from Jeff, the Delval Miata Club Motorsports Director:

We allow any car, convertible or other on the track as long as it is safe and passes our inspection on brakes, lights, tires, etc.

Jeff
So we seem good to go!

And I'm with Reedred 100%. Put in your applications now to reserve your spot in queue. As people decide to drop out or are unable to pay, they go to the next person on the list. The higher up you are on the list, the better chance you have of being able to go obviously. By the way, I checked the site, it did say, "As of February 15..." so yea, that is when the site was updated last as they are full in novice and intermediate.
