I had used Rain-X in the past and was very impressed by both its effectiveness and longevity. The last bottle I had lasted literally for years.
As I recall, it used to be a polymer compound that bonded well to the glass and lasted for many months. It used to be a clear liquid.
The Rain-X I picked up at the store a few weeks ago is labeled "Windshied WAX" (capitalization theirs) and looks just like liquid car wax... white... and acts like wax: after just a couple of weeks, water no longer beads up on my windshield.
I guess the old formula was so good and long lasting that they just couldn't sell enough of it.
Anybody have any alternatives?
