Hey, all - when photographing my Red Line exhaust system for posting over on the Red Line thread I noticed an interesting attachment. It looks like a "leaking diff splatter shield" that keeps the diff fluid from cooking off on the hot exhaust pipe and making that icky smell.

Does a recently manufactured 2.4L SKY have the same shield on the exhaust? I'm curious. A photo showing the shield on a Red Line exhaust is provided below.

I would guess that it is a heat shield.

It must be a heat shield of some type. It's in the wrong location to protect against diff fluid leaking from the pinion seal, the most frequent source of the leak. If I read your pic correctly this shield is under the axle seal.
