All SEs whether NA or R/L that I know of came with the special stitching. I even believe the steering wheel came with the special stitching. Cannot recall. A top u can always acquire...it is the blue stitching that is the PRIZE. Also the SE rims which u cannot acquire also. I do know that SKYDRAGON has 2 remaining from his SE and he is in Bradenton, Fl

At least I didn't call it the slow color!!!!

ChopTop. I like the color of the car, I like the sound of the car, and that is about it. I honestly would like it a lot better if it were a Sky, just not that into the round look of the Solstice. Reminds me of my old bug eyed sprite too much.

Ask Robotech if he would want to drive around in it. I have had a lot of fast cars, this thing is just too much, way too much for me. I messed with one of the Misubishi taxi cab looking things the other day. His comment at the next light was "What the F is that, I have never been smoked like that, I thought my car had blown up!! He wanted to play again, but I said enough for one day. Power shifting it from second to third is an E ticket ride to say the least. That is only the second time I have really gotten on it. And it really isn't running quite right. Not like it was in Arkansas, when Dave messed with it.

I have to clean it up this weekend, big all GM show in LA I am taking it to. Did well with the Skpel last year, so taking both if the other half will drive the Yellow car. We will trailer the Mallett of course.

I had hoped this blue car would not go up for auctions until after the 6th, as I have two people coming to look at the Mallett then. Pre qualified, Pontiac collectors. Going to where it will be appreciated or it is not going anywhere.

Sold

Well I'm officially obsessed. I watched it go down to 00, here is the screenshot, what I failed to capture was the auction fee and seller fee..

If it stayed at the 2100.00 there were some real problems underneath is my guess. I figured 4500 to 6K. Crazy about the color types would over look a lot, but that is about what most skys go for it seems. Any info on it Hoosier?

I didn't see it sell but if $2,100 was the starting bid it is hard to say. I do know it was on approval so if the seller didn't get his asking price it may be back up in a day or two. I think his screen shot was for the prebidding before the auction began.

Pre bids were down around 1 to 5 hundred.

Can you find out what it went for. If it had been next week, I might have been interested. I think the Mallett is sold. He says he will come out Sunday if I don't make the show. I told him I would not bring it if it even looked like rain. He said he appreciated that. It is for a personal collection.

No way of knowing now what it sold for. It is like a national secret with these auction company's. With Copart if you don't see it sell you will never know. IAAI is not much better but you can leave there auction window open and it will show you the selling price even if the auction is over but once you close that window it is gone also.

Oh wow...very cool to hear that! I know you've kind of been kicking around that idea for a while...

If it measures up to what I have told him, he is willing to go for my minimum. If not, back in the storage facility. Then of course he may not show up, but seems quite interested. Has called several times. Not a big deal one way or another. I have enjoyed driving it the last few times I have taken it out. Smoking the ticking time bomb Mitsubishi Taxi with its 90 foot wing was hilarious. He really thought he was bad. I thought I would find out how well the Mallett ran. Brought back some memories of the good old days, when I did a lot of street racing with my 1967 L88 Vette.

Some year . . . If I ever make it back to the left coast . . . I have a story that involves 1965 L78 Corvette Coupe, back country roads, a farm tractor with honey wagon on behind, and lots pf prayers in an extremely short time . . . :)

Mine was Red on Red with power windows, 4 speed, I know I hate them now, tilt and telescopic steering wheel. Loved that car, got 18-20 miles to the gallon when you kept your foot out of it. Ran on center 2 barrel. Blew it to smithereens racing a MachIII Kawasaki on Dodge street in Omaha. You did not want to miss gears back then, bad bad bad things happened, none of this no lift crap with no consequences. Actually saw a silver 67/427 convertible yesterday over in Hemet. Still a great looking car. Worth a lot of money now if you kept them away from idiots like me. lol

Well still the owner of the Mallett. Guy showed up yesterday around 4pm and we had a good break in the weather. He brought his wife with him. He loved the car and wanted it instantly, but she wanted to go for a ride in it. I told them I could not let them drive it due to insurance, only myself and son can drive the car. He told me to take her for the same ride I gave him. He said she would be okay. Not even close. NO Fing way my husband can handle this car. This is just too much. We are not buying this car. So back into storage it went. Did get a call from him last night, said he was working on her, but was not making a lot of headway. Possibly going up 243 was not the answer, should just stay on the freeway I guess. But she was terrified there.

I think I am going to pull the heads off of this thing and find out what it truly is. At least then I could be totally honest about it. Just have no idea

Not a big deal, I just hate paying the insurance for it to set in the storage facility 360 days a year. Plus the rent at the storage site, makes it very expensive for the four or five days and minimal minutes behind the wheel.

Changing insurance over to State Farm I think, will hear this week sometime. Otherwise I have to pay Safeco too much for a dust magnet.

Got another call about an hour ago, he said he was sorry, but she was not going to go along with buying it under any circumstance, she called it a killer car, not sure I don't agree with her. Spoke with Curtis about taking the head off and measuring everything and find out what it is. I guess it is possible to be a 429 according to some of the reading I have been doing on it, but the torque even seems high for that. I have no idea what they built, and it is starting to bother me that I don't know.

2450.00 seems low. There must have been some major undercarriage damage, that was not as easy to repair as many thought. I still say anything that shears off two wheels at the hub, is a very serious impact, and one lucky individual that it did not roll over. Hope who ever got it does return it. Not a fan of the color, but the low number made me want to mess with it.

2 questions, your insurance is really only for 2 drivers (or do you just not want them driving it?)? See your looking at changing providers, have you looked at Haggerty and just get storage coverage on it if your not going to drive it?

Guess i did not know that you don't know the actual displacement (I assume that's what you mean by finding out what it is).

If memory serves...and skersfan correct me if I'm wrong...but he knows what CAME with it and he was told by the owner's son what he thought was done to it, but the dyno shows that it has to be a lot more than what they thought it was.

Davham,

Yes only my son and myself can drive the car. Safeco mandated that. And it is very expensive. Trying to get State Farm to insure it for the claimed amount. I have 6 other vehicles, motorhome and home with them. Think it will be cheaper in the long run, but who knows. Three days and no response on my request.

Car supposedly redlines at 7400 RPM, it has seen that twice since I have had it. Mostly by accident. It revs unbelievably fast.

It has never been dyno tested to full redline since I have had it. It was over 100 degrees when I had it at a major LS builders site. He stated he had no idea what it was but it developed more torque and horsepower at 5200 rpm than any thing he had ever seen from a LS2-3 426 RWHP and 485 pounds of Torque.

The engine was a group deal done by three companies based in Florida and Texas, friends of the previous owner, and supposedly was over 10k at cost. No real idea Dave, but it is absolutely terrifying for most that ride in in it. When I take people for a ride in it, I never take to over 6500 rpm, it just gets to squirrelly.

Robo has ridden in it, he has called it a monster several times. I have had a lot of fast cars, with big blocks or high revving small blocks, but I have never ridden in anything like this thing. Could be my memory or just really getting old. And to be honest it is not running quite right. Dave had it flying at the National, and it seemed far more stable and controllable, but the tune here in Socal is off from the 95% humidity that we had in Arkansas.

My mechanic, is a mechanic for Kurt Leduc and is very familiar with very fast vehicles. He says he has never ridden in anything like it on the street. I know there were a lot of modifications to the engine, but is supposed to be bullet proof . It does not make sense for it to run like it does to be honest.

I am getting ready to go on vacation, and have a lot of work to complete before I go, then I have the FJ National in July, so my guess is it will be sometime in August before I get it tore down and find out exactly what I have. Or I could just take it to the shop and Curtis do it while I am gone. That maybe the ticket. It is really starting to bug me no knowing what it is. Personally I think if it was a normal Mallett, it would be just fine to drive. I am really beginning to like how it handles in the corners, as I drive it once every two months to keep everything fresh and operating properly. Sorry for the book
