Hope that doesn't mean quality will start to suffer.

And one of them 1151 was MINE!!

As far as quality, the standards are the same whether they build 2 or 200. Remember SKY/Sol still being built together. You are looking at a line capable of doing over 160 a day. . . 1151 is like 39 a day!

Ah, but there were 2000 sols built along with those Sky's so they are at about 120 a day total. Still room for 40 more a day though!

Similar discussion as every month:

Look here: 7 car an Hour from 6th of may

Some facts:

production day = working day (at this time 5 days/week)

production hours/day = 20 / 21 hours a day

If I remember the information about the Solstice a year ago and the production capacity of the Willmington plant I think the maximum was planned with a maximum production of 8 cars per hour / max. 21 h per production day.

The first 3 month there was a normal ramping up Sol production:

7/2005 836
8/2005 1004
9/2005 1569

The second 3 month they did a normal two shift production:

10/2005 2045
11/2005 2070
12/2005 1858

Since januar they are running the third shift for Sol and Sky production:

1/2006 2399
2/2006 2492
3/2006 2942
4/2006 2527

If you count 5 days/week and 20 h/day (rest for breaks and maintenance) the workers at Willmington plant produce ~ 7 cars per hour. I hope they can increase it to 8/h till the GXP, the RL and the GT will raise the demand.

I also remember that the max. capacity of the plant for production of the hydroformed frame panels is ~ 36000/year. The production this year should not be so far away from that target.....
Production in may

Saturn Sky 1,151
Pontiac Solstice 2,135
Opel GT none

Total 3,286

All is running as planned - production slowly raises up.

Nice graph C20LET_50, it does show a clearer picture of Kappa production.

The picture was not so good for GM as a whole:
General Motors dealers in the United States sold 345,157 new cars and trucks in May, down 16 percent compared to year-ago levels, reflecting continued strategic reductions in incentives and daily rentals, which were down 28 percent. Total car sales were down 19 percent, and truck sales were down 13 percent.
But at least Skys aren't staying on dealers' lots!.
Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky are selling briskly, with Solstice remaining on dealers' lots an average of 13 days and Sky remaining on lots 2 days.
