Got call from Saturn Corp. last night

Saturn Corp called last night of course I was driving at the time. I pulled over and they asked me my impressions of the Sky. I asked what they wanted likes dislikes. she said yes. So after telling her how much I loved the car, I told her about the trouble I had with my dealer (Saturn of Elmhurst)wanting a 2000.00 upcharge when car delivered even tho I had copy of signed contract in hand and how Saturn Corp had to get involved.
I told her something that could be changed on this great car, one take the useless window switches from door and put on console or dash, reconfigure ignition switch so that 2inch lump isn't going straight down to create more leg room.
She said I'm taking down all this information and that Saturn wants to know what they could do to make a better car and better experience. I have a extremely big mouth and I figured I would promote our car show In Downers Grove. She said she will pass along info and maybe corp. will participate.
I went further about making my buying experience better after what I went through in elmhurst. I asked her to have them send my Redline to Downers Grove as the first one delivered in country. She got a good laugh and said she would pass in on. Yeah right

Hey, I got that same phone call yesterday afternoon. My wife took the call and said some guy from the Sky plant wants to speak to you. I said what!
It kind of caught me off guard at home. I forgot the one thing I wanted to mention the most, location of the PW switches. I agree with you exactly. Almost impossible while driving unless you swing your right arm under your left arm. Yes, and I forgot to bring up the Redline. But we were on the same wavelength except, my buying experience was outstanding!
That s why I posted

hey buddy they are calling now, everyone should be prepared to respond. I think it is great that they are asking for our input. hey take a road trip out to Downers Grove saturn in Illinois July 8th we have the dealer sponsoring our first Sky Show it is going to be a super time.
EVERYONE PREPARE FOR SATURN CORP. CALL
I think it's admirable that the company is actually calling consumers directly. Very smart.
That upcharge AFTER the fact is outrageous.

Did Saturn resolve that issue to your satisfaction?

With the horror stories I've read here with some dealers, it appears ironically that Saturn may be HURTING its reputation with the handling of the Sky.

Pre-Sky Saturn had a cusrtomer satisfaction at the top of the charts with Toyota, Lexus, and Honda. So GM figured all it had to do was put some great products in the showrooms (Sky)..
I have expounded on this in another thread, but Saturn has a fabulous opp to let this Sky do what its designers intended...make us car buyers take another look at Saturn, but they are blowing it with inattention to the little simple inexpensive customer service details. There is no reason to make getting consistent accurate information near impossible. There is also no excuse for GM's to do the things they are doing to those of us waiting...hidden markups, varying quotes. My dealer gave me one price on a demo, and two other's lower quotes and somehow figured I wouldn't find out. I also know that the GM at my dealership let a buyer from Macon have first crack at a built Sky meeting the specs of waiting customers who had been on the waiting list but since winter but got first dibbs because she wrote a check. I met this woman on a bike ride, so I have proof. We find these things out and it gives the whole love fest with Sky a ding or two, and it doesn't have to be. I have said nothing to my dealer, but I will not be so quiet if my ordered car is marked up from the written agreement given all this intrigue. So, for those of you who get the chance, please speak up. I want GM and Saturn to be great because they are American car manufacturers.

Still; remember that these stories are really in the minority -- vast minority. Most people are reporting a bump-free ride. As far as information.... The info on any car is sketchy - at best. When was the last time you followed a car through construction this close??? I have had almost every car I bought made for me -- I usually signed the deal -- and just waited for a phone call.
I think most GMs are doing a good job (Some like all the peeps at my dealership are above and beyond) in disseminating info.
SKY will HELP Saturn -- but the 100,000 Aura's, 150,000 VUE's, etc are the cars that will finance a success not 10,000 SKY
I think Saturn did what it said it would do - deliver the car by Spring 2007. Its a few dealerships that are making mistakes in customer service- and these are the minority not the majority of dealers.

These same dealers are prolly as bad with everything else they do too. It's just that we here on this forum are very particular and are not about to take any guff lightly.

I have had consistently good service and sales experiences with my dealer. They have followed the "Saturn way" since 94 and they were not about to let the SKY sales go screwy and they didn't.

You are right Rick, and I am going to make sure I sound nicer in the future. Please realize that I am aware the folks assembling these cars are working their tails off, it just seems as if there needs to be some more dealership oversight...or something. I love my saleslady, I love the sky Rick, I even love you and all the folks here but the MANAGEMENT at yon dealer...ick. Still, This site makes it all fun, even when whining and complaining is in order. I have a marketing background and just see golden chances to market the company and revive some American pride slipping away is all.
The purpose of the call is to find out the good and bad

Tell them what you like and what you dislike. This so they can make changes to make things better for the next round of buyers. It is important to out the bad Dealers and to commend the good. If people don't speak up nothing will change.
I agree...I just should say happy things here and save the serious lasar beam bad stuff I have documented for the folks who should care.
They've called me the last two days in a row and I've missed the call both times. They've left voicemail both times, I hope I actually get to talk to them soon.

Please share with us here too.. unless forum members hear the bad along with the good they'll have just as an inacurrate picture of the dealers service out there as Saturn must have. This is not just a pep club here... many car forums have degenerated into that kind of blind brand loyalty and they're pretty pathetic.

We want all the news and experiences!
I got the call from the Saturn plant a week or two ago. The man was very nice and also asked for the good, bad, and the ugly. I told him the only things I would change are the window controls and a little more arm room for the driver side. I believe I also said the Sky needed a place for coins, but I don't quite remember at the moment. He also said if things, good or bad, come up to call Saturn and let them know.
It was a nice call.
