I've kind of searched the forum and din't see anything on fuel pump problems.
10,600 mi. and the pump located in the tank went bad. Common? Freak happening?
Chevrolet had a h___ of a time locating one. Only one found was at a Maine dealership,
or so I was told.

In-tank fuel pumps have not beenuch of a problem, and certainly not at that mileage, although lack of driving could be a contributor to the failure.

Possibly, but with emphasis on the "storing for long periods".

Yea, fuel doesn't like tyo sit for long periods of time. Good news is we can just swap out the pump motor (Which is the part that goes bad) with aftermarket so the lack of availability on the entire assembly isn't so bad.

ZZP has an AEM in tank unit for $130. I'm not ure how much supporting fabricatio. You'd need though.

I just swapped an in-tank pump. Not terribly difficult. To John‘s point, those that store, probably store for 6 months or less (winters).

Up and running again! The previous owner put Stabil in the tank, but just flat out did not drive it at all. It won't sit now!!!
