So I go out this morning to head to work and the car wont start. A lot of the LED's are flickering slightly, or not coming on in the interior.

If I put it in accessory mode the lights all pop on after a few seconds, seems to run fine. Even my stereo powers(and I have a 900w amp on that system that powers on with accessory).
I go to turn the engine over and all the lights die, it wont even try to crank.
Intermittently there is a service airbag warning, car will ding, and pressing the brake will cause lights to dim(or even foot well led's to go out. These are tied to my fuse 19 accessory line, on with car).

Now my taillights have taken to staying on, and flickering continuously.

Something to note:
This has happened a few times before, but limited. After a few minutes of just messing with it, not really doing anything, it will decide to crank and then run great.
Every time this has happened it is when the car is sitting in pouring down rain. Basically when it storms badly here. Usually overnight, but once while I was at work all day.

Led me to believe water is getting somewhere, but I cant figure out where water would cause this kind of electrical issue.

Any help would be extremely appreciated.

I would guess you just need a new battery. If you have a charger with "jump start" mode, you can hook it up and see if it starts OK, in which case it's certain.

But these types of weird symptoms are normal for our cars with old/poor/bad battery. The rain may just be exacerbating this, or a coincidence.

Would it be more of a connection to the battery issue than dead itself?
Or is our car just weird and does funky things that others don't?

From my experience, dead batteries don't tend to act like this, especially with the hyperflashing taillights just doing that for no reason...

There is still a ton I don't know about these cars though, im usually surprised. lol

I would check your connectors as they can corrode over time. Mine were so shot I could pull them off the battery without using tools. I replaced them when I did the engine.

However, TS is right that these cars do strange things when the batteries start to go so if the cables look good, I'd swap out the battery.

Good to know guys. Why should the battery act normal after all, everything else on these cars is weird. lmao.

I know my positive connector isn't the best, ill probably replace it, but the neg is new, or at least was replaced 3 years ago(so still shiny)

Have someone grabbing me an optima redtop now for it, so sealed battery here I come. Hopefully that fixed it.
Thanks for the help, and ill update after putting it in so we can add this to one more strange battery story on here. haha

I've always cleaned my terminals with baking soda and water if there was corrosion it will neutralize it pretty quickly, however I haven't had this issue with he SKY.

You also need to check the connections at the other end, and the chassis grounds. Low batteries and bad connections will cause really strange behavior.

Thanks for the information guys. Got the new battery in and its back to 100%.

Positive cable looks horrible, need to replace it, and the positive battery terminal on the old one looked BAD.

Glad to have it fixed. Probably needed a better battery anyways after everything I have running now. lol
