:leaving: I write this with a degree of sadness that is unexpected but real.

I canciled my order on saturday.

I really love the car. I will try to get one sooner or later but for now, well frtriends I "got an offer I couldn't refuse".

The offer was from my dear wife and concerned a Flag Blue w/ black top and parchment leather Jaguar XK8.

MY wife has asked for nothing in 35 years. She has put up with quite a lot to boot from me. Saturday we went flower and pumpkin shopping and low and behold in the parking lot of the Home Depot sitting all decked out and for sale, was exactly what she has talked about, lusted over and always wanted to own since they came out. A Jaguar XK8. The condition is wonderful for its age, 9 years young, (1997) and the miles the mechanicals are all great and.....well the price was far less than 1/2 of what I was going to spend.

The offer I got? It is/was this. Buy the Jag, sell the B-2500 I had picked up, and keep my 2004 Nissan 4wd supercharged p/u that has 21,000 miles on it....and go and retire next July 4th.

My wife has just recently got a promotion with $$$$$$ and she will make the Jag payments! As ANY sports car/convertable would be is a "toy" for us, and really would see little use in the winters, the slightly older but very nicely maintained Jag would "fill the bill" as it were.
The seller has 2 other Jags and has part and mechanical contacts that moonlight from a dealer and do great work at reasonable $$$ (with the Jag this will be important)

Is it a sky? No. Is it nice? Very. BUT......looking at all things considered I would have to work 3 more years to pay off the SKY. In a small way I could have my 'cake/sports car flavor' and eat it too...as it were this way.

I have met great folks here and would like to hang around just to say hi :) every once in a while but this change/decision really is best for us...I have been going back and forth over retirement for the past year and frankly.....I'm very tired of what I do and this really is best for us.

So, I will PM some to personally thank them for everything and I have some items that I need to get ride of....car cover, and kappapouch, 13inch stubby. Anyone who wants these at discound PM me and I will "make you an offer you can't refuse"....hell I got one!

"deluke", kindly make room on your list for a new commer....THANKS TO ALL.....This is a really great place filled by really great folks. Take care and...I'll be hanging around. Again, later, Jim.

And don't stay a stranger, just because you have moved in a different direction doesn't mean you can't stop by and say hello.......

Those Jaguar XK8's are really beautiful cars, I was telling someone last night thats one of the few convertibles that I would consider if I couldn't have my Sky.

Im sad to see my friend in the Red Sox Nation go, so you better come back every now and then and let us know how everything is.

I think many of us have considered just saying oh well and moving on and getting a different car. I think the important thing is that everyone make up their own mind, and do what they have to.

It seems that occasionally the overall importance of the Sky gets a little blown out of proportion, when all the dust settles it is in reality only a car and I think everyone here realizes that there a lot of decisions in life that hold a lot more importance.

And I do not beleive anyone here would chastise you or anyone else if they make decision that affects their life.

As I sit here in my N.E. Patriots sweatshirt

I wish you the best. Sounds like a no-brainer. Shaguar has always been a dream car of mine since I first drove one in Connecticut back in the '80s.

Thanks for the cool story. It made me smile.
You're still not off the hook on the pics.
The long lost car of your dreams and retirement in sight to enjoy it in.
Sweet.
