I used to kid with SKIP about me shooting his O2 tank when he crossed the Mason Dixon Line...that was our ongoing joke...guess he will not need any more 02 tanks...he can cross now and visit me in Jersey....He is sorely missed.

There is more to this...SKIP was old school on the forum. With him gone, a piece of all of us is gone, especially those who still use the forum to connect socially. He was a good friend to all of us. I now have to take his number out of my cell. Not a good thing. My friend is gone. I am feeling OLD.

I never liked what SKIP did last April 1st...and I told him that. I will miss him this April 1st.

I dunno Mike, Skip was a great prankster, maybe he just wanted to see if we'd miss him. I didn't see the thread but it was an April fools joke... I cried like a baby last night. He was good....

I hope someone slips him a bottle of Jake for his final road trip.

R.I.P. Skip - 61 is still too young!

Skip and I had a long impassioned discussion in PM after he pulled that April 1st prank, and I don't think he ever understood why a bunch of us were offended by it. It was a result of his somewhar different sense of humor that he developed as a result of his disease which tied him to those bottles of oxygen. We both ended up respecting the others viewpoint even if we didn't understand it. Skip was a wonderful guy and always a gentleman.

I'll miss him around here, even though he quit posting for the most part.

Rob the Elder told me last night. Our thoughts and prayers are with Skip's family and friends. He was such a great asset to our community and will be missed sorely. I never met Skip in person but his presence here was almost as good. I envy those who knew him in person.

I always enjoyed Skip's avatars. Glad you changed the avatar VA Sky. Very Nice!!!

* sad *

Holy Crap!!! I really hate hearing about this in Facebook by way of Spag's page...

I "hanged out" with SKIP since 2005 and I never got to meet him in person but I felt like I really knew him. Our back and forth over PM, email and even over the phone was very memorable and I really liked his spirit and his outlook in life, most of the time.

I know I will miss him dearly and I hope he is enjoying his new life with God and all his angels!

Rest in Peace my old friend! I hate to see you go but its selfish of us to keep him with us in his condition!

May our dear Lord give peace and comfort to all his friend and family!

I raise my glass to you old man tonight and for a few nights in a row!

BA...

Great idea....I too will change my avatar in Skip's honor.. Too the Jack Angel
Skip had a fondness for her..... he and I share a story about her.. I found her on the net for him one time.. to "watch" over him.. :) he liked that idea...lol..and to have her as his avatar,to remind him of the good things coming his way.. ;) We all need an Angel to look over us from time to time...
I think he would like that...

 Skip..

My name is John and I am Skip's son.

I just felt like I should come here to thank many of you. For the flowers, the woman, who I'm so sorry I can't remember what you said your name was but, for placing the cars in the casket with him. And mostly just for being his friends. He spoke of his trip up north quite a few times and mentioned more than a few stories from this forum. Unfortunately his health had quickly declined over the last month and he suffered a lot.

In case you were wondering though, he did go very peacefully in his sleep. He was so stubborn he refused to die lying down in fact! He was sitting up leaning on a walker. The chaplain that was with him before he passed told us his last words were "This feels so good." And as a final act he was able to watch Alabama become the champions. I don't believe he could have had a better end. As much as I wish he could have held on this last week to reach his 62nd birthday... I'm happy he is finally at rest.

So again, thank you for keeping my dad happy and in good company.

Godspeed you cantankerous old man. Miss you already.

It should be noted..it was Kimberly who stayed with SKIP during the funeral...she also placed the 2 Kappas in his casket...very thoughtful and gracious...It should be noted she drove close to 7 hrs each way to be with SKIP. She was a true friend, till the end. Thank you Kimberly from all of us.
