Hi all! My apologies, I'm not new here I just haven't ever posted an introduction and I feel it's long overdue. I first came to this site 2 yrs ago just 2 weeks after I bought my 07 sky base model with 63k miles in it (just 1 owner & no accidents) and right away I was having problems with what I thought was the transmission at the time. I was doing research & I guess I was being shy cause I sat in the shaddows just taking in from what everyone else's had to say. It turned out to be just a sensor so all was good. Since then my car has been hit twice and of course it's never been the same (for 1 thing I can't turn too much in either direction w/out hearing rubbing from the wheel well & both my doors squeak when I open them just to name a few) & I've been heartbroken ever since. Now I have the infamous check engine light that won't go away w/out a $950 OEM cat replacement. I love love love my car I'm a single female that already works 2 jobs & I've cut back on any luxuries & all cords (cable tv, bingo, etc) I can still barely make ends meet but I keep on keeping on lol. So there's my story, I'm glad to be here, I just wanted to introduce myself.

Buy a used or scrap yard cat. Much cheaper than $950. Or even post a WTB (want to buy) Ad on here and the SoslticeForum.com. Some folks may still have their old ones after replacing with a high-flow cat.

Welcome to the forum. As some of our owners have suggested looking into a used cat, from scrap yard or parts for one. We have a lot of owners in Texas who might be local to your location, who might help you... install it one day for 6 adult beverages? Modest in price compared to what the dealer would charge or local shop.

I would look into the wheel rubbing when turning. Might be serious, maybe not. Loose wheel well liners or bent steering rack, until you look or inspect it with a trained eye, while they install your cat? Doors squeak could be just a lube question to the hinges, or they might be pinched and need some " adjustment " and maybe the front fenders too?

Replacing the cat, clearing the codes, check engine light, passing emissions or state inspection to get the car back on the road is one thing, but the " steering issue " could be more of a problem down the road if you will, if something in the rack is bent, and needs replacement before you are able to resume your permagrin status. Safety first and fore most here. Battery first. Tires second. Brakes third maybe second here. Steering/suspension is next up. This car is not cheap to fix, in most cases but you can save money over those outrageous prices the dealer charges. Lot of good owners here that are willing to help. They can point you in the right direction, what to look for, what to avoid like the shady dealer who will try to tell you everything needs replaced $$$ to get your car back to where it should be for you. IF you can find a local Kappa owner who has some free time, their eye and experience could save you some of that green stuff we all like.
