The white plastic film that protects the car on transport may have gotten stuck to the bottom of the muffler or another part of the car that would get hot enough to eventually melt the plastic causing the smell. Take a look underneath and see if anything is stuck to the bottom of the car.

Just drove it home. Kinda exhausted now. My bedtime is usally around 10 am, so more details later. I did notice a plastic burning smell when I got home. I can get my fingers easily between the tires and the wheel wells and there's no visible signs of rubbing. Any ideas?

Sometimes the exhaust systems of new cars make that smell for the first few hundred miles. - Congrats on getting your car!

Same here. It was there for a while, then gone. The manufacturing process will leave all sorts of residue on components (that dreadful "new car smell") and some off those burn off after the first few minutes of heat.
