Hello. I've used the search quite a bit and been googling as well. I bought a Saturn sky recently that has 20 inch wheels on it with stretched 275 width tires on it. I'm trying to get more sidewall and more tread down to the rear tires with no rub on a lowered vehicle. From what ive read a 285 or 295 is possible, though I will need to go to 19 or possible 18 inch wheels. They need to clear big brake kits front and rear. Pics of the existing set up Attached.

I'm leaning towards the Forgestar F14 since they can be had in custom off sets and widths though i would consider any brands that are light/ strong/ affordable. Again, 18 or 19 doesn't matter as long as it clears the suspension, clears the brakes and doesn't rub. As I understand the wishbone clearance in the back becomes an issue when the suspension is fully unloaded, however the car has KW V3 coil overs so that unloaded length is limited. I hear the fronts will fit anything so I'm planning to do a square set up.

From the time I've spent reading so far I have seen lots of different opinions on this but nothing definite. My goal is zero spacers and zero rub. The last thing I want is to spend 2gs on a set of wheels that require spacers. The existing wheels don't use spacers and don't rub. Any definite thoughts about this? Again, only interested in 295 (preferred) or 285.

It’s a Biznatch as the kids say to find pretty rock solid numbers on the wider tires/wheels. I have Forgestars with custom offsets etc. 285/35/19 tires. I only was able to put 50 miles on the car before parking for the winter (also received the car back from PAW few days prior), but with BC coil overs the car rode way, way better than I ever thought it would. I didn’t want to lose any sidewall, but gave in slightly from my Foose 18” wheels. Wife & I didn’t notice any rub with new setup. I don’t have the wheel specs that’s I gave to Dave at PAW, which I am not sure if he modified from those (I don’t think so). I’d have to dig around on my paperwork. Anyway, only using a 1/4” or so spacer on the front, but that’s because I went with Cobalt Brembo brakes & the caliper wouldn’t clear. Here’s a few photos for reference. All I have at the moment.

Thanks for replying! Great looking sky btw. It appears we have similar goals. I have to clear the brakes but really need to get more meat/sidewall in the back. Is there any chance you could get details on your rear wheels width and offset. That would help a bunch in starting with a baseline. I'm gonna start measuring mine and see what I have. Hopefully we can get a solid idea of how wide we can go in the back with no rub on a sky.
@load97, I found your specs from another thread. "This is a Forgestar CF5V 19”x10” wheel with +46 offset. Tire is 285/35/19". Great to know. I'm going to measure the 20" wheels I have and see how much clearance I have with what's there. It's an older wheel that's no longer made so I have no idea what specs it is. Maybe I can fit a 295 in there, but with what you have, it shows a 285 can for sure fit.

I was just coming here to say I found the specs LOL.
@load97, do you know if there is any room to push the tire/rim in further with your 10" /285 width? And if so, does your rim/tire stick out from the fender at all? My 20s stick out at least 1/2", but the wheels looks absurdly wide and stretch the 275 width tire. I'm gonna do some measuring tomorrow since it isn't raining.
I just took this to help you. Not sure on how much more they can tuck in. Haven’t really looked at that. I’m pretty much stuck with what I have now obviously. If you go in more, be sure to report back.

It's poking out a bit thus giving it the monster truck look. But not excessive that I've seen.

Any issues with tight turns?
That is ultra minimal poke by my standard. I consider the term monster truck on cats is when 2 inches is sticking out and you need 10 degrees of negative camber to get it to clear the fender. If that offset will get me a sidewall and 295 in the back I'm all in. What I have now with the 20in wheel and stretched 275 in the back. I still need to measure but I'm guessing it's an 11 inch rim.

Monster truck look is a lot further than 1/2-5/8” or so lol. But not much else you a person can do unless you want to beat on the metal body of the car or cut braces out etc.

@load97, 100% agree. I think mine stick out quite a bit more presently with the 20. So I did find rim width on my existing 20inch rims. 8.5 up front and 10 inch in the back. Bummer is that the offset wasn't stamped, nor is there is a sticker anywhere. It does appear there is space inside the wheel well, but I'd need to remove suspension to check clearance with the travel. I'll ask the previous owner if he might know. Slowly inching towards getting some wheels.

Looking at tire sizes, if a 295 will fit, is going to be 35 series tire in the back with a 255 or 265 up front running a 40 series tire. This should get the circumference very similar to stock size.
You can probably figure out the offset with a good ruler & google where to measure from etc, but to have the exact number from the manufacturer would be best like you’re trying to do from the old owner.
So after lots of digging around and research, I ended up ordering a set of forgestar f14 wheels. 18x8.5 up front and 18x10 in the back. I went with the highest offset they offer on the back, which is a 42. The front have a 45. Will know in a couple months when they are done what the result will be. For the record you could definitely go with a higher et. Maybe 45ish is my guess in an 18 inch rim before the upper control arms starts hitting the rim at full unload. Obviously with 19 and 20 inch rims there is plenty of space and the offset can go higher. In my research one guy fit a 20x10 with a 55 offset. Anyways, ill post pics in a couple months when the arrive. Thank you especially @load97.
