I know I am new here, but I've been a moderator on Thirdgen.org for something like 15 years... I'd volunteer.
You must be a "glutton" for punishment!!!!

There was a bit of confusion here so allow me to clarify.

Mods cannot use the Mod function unless enabled, Super Mods have it setup automatically.

If we want to have regular mods have access to that back end, we would need to have that discussion in the mod section

Thanks. All of that would have been very helpful if any of it was correct. Actually it probably is all correct, but unfortunately none of it applies to me.

Something is either broken or hasn't been set up yet, because the only changes to anything I can find are the word "Moderator" under my name and my inbox is bigger.

I can't see moderated threads or posts, and do not have a link called "Moderation" or mod-anything for that matter.

I have to assume that @Administrator or our Super-Moderator @Robotech are working on it.
So apparently the difference between a super moderator and a moderator is a super moderator has access to the more powerful moderator tools. I imagine that leaves the more simple tools for the moderators.

There should be some drop downs in the post that you have access to JohnWR...one should be called thread tools towards the top and the other should be moderation which should be down around the quick response box.

Can't speak for John, but I don't have any of those things.

Under threads tools I have Print and Subscribe/Unsubscribe.

Near Quick Reply I just have Quote, Multi Quote and Quick Reply.

Moderators are community beacons which welcome new members, assist in diagnosing issues, ect.

SuperMods can move threads, use the ModCP, and have access to member accounts to resolve issues.

(Unless Moderators were set to have access to all the same mod permissions as SuperMods).

We can discuss this in the mod area, and I will provide a user manual to assist.

For what it is worth, it sounds as though there may have been a change of purpose or something or other at the Autoguide Administrator level as to the powers invested in the Moderators and Super-Moderators since we last went through all this fol-de-rol in the distant past.

It sounds as though, in the past, our Moderators had Super-Moderator status. Probably pre-Autoguide timewise.

From the prior post, it sounds like moderators are cheerleaders.

:dunno:

I have to agree with Dave that this description of moderator suggests to me that nothing has been done to solve the problem that prompted this whole activity or to reduce Robotech's workload.

It seems like there should a least be a middle ground that would maybe only allow moderators to acknowledge posts and threads so that people can get out of moderation faster. Or something.
