There have been several fiberglass coupe tops fabricated that look very striking. But you have to wonder how they made the interior to match a beautiful looking exterior. The interior of the Sorento Coupe space is limited, as mentioned. But I want both the finished interior, noise free window fit, and great exterior appearance. I believe they are a great looking car and everyone says so. For my money, just buy a Pontiac Solstice Coupe. I did. Here is recent
photo. IMHO

I appreciate that you like the Solstice. It was far too round for me. I'm a fan of edges and lines. I detest most 90s cars due to being too round. For me it was between the Sky and the CTS Coupe.

I’m sure this is a silly question, but what does Kappa mean?
Kappa is the car platform upon which the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky were built. It's the skeleton of the car.

I love the look of the Solstice, nearly as much as the Sky. The Solstice coupe is especially awesome in appearance but owning just one Kappa, a Sky convertible is my most favorite. But if owning two, the Solstice coupe would be #2, exactly as 44thSky.

One thing the Solstice in general has over the Sky.....it's 4" shorter....more garage space!

Wheel base is the same, 95.1"
SKY overall length, 161.1"
Solstice length 157.2"

__

Slipping off topic . . . now for something completely different

So, could we assume the difference in overall length is just the protrusion of the body parts of the two cars designs? Thus either body will fit on either frame, just drop it on? (Don't know why that is important to most of us, but to those that want to make that switch it would be quite important.) Just wondering.

Yes, the length difference is body overhang, probably all in the front. In theory the body would just "drop on", but the rear quarters are bonded to the chassis with no good way to get them off. The reality is that switching bodies is extremely impracticable, although marginally possible.

I would say that it is nearly 50/50, mostly influenced by the center-line seam protrusion.

I had a Saab 9-3 convertible while I was biding my time to get a Sky. I liked it, but not the way I like my Sky. It is sad to think that GM had to kill the companies that made 2 of my last 4 vehicles. Thank god they don't own Mazda, or I'd be 0-for-4.

Great post, and cool pictures!

In the last weeks of local Pontiac dealerships, a friend of mine walked into one and said, I'll buy two G6's for the price of one. The dealer went for it.

The Solstice/Sky story is more sad than the Fiero, yet are very similar. Both could have been enhanced to maintain or increase interest, but GM could not afford to have them compete with the Corvette.

There have been at least a couple of hybrid 'Skytices' made (Solstice rear/body, Sky front end). A later one from a coupe and the original from a vert. I can't find any photos left of the original (it was painted in a gorgeous 'deep cherry' color), but here are ones of the coupe hybrid (courtesy @RedOne07)...
