Seeing if there is any interest in a run on Sunday Oct. 22nd out of Lodi, going up through Calaveras County. If there is no interest a run though Napa County would also suit us that day. Please post if you’re interested or would like to offer suggestions on details.

I have a wedding to shoot that Saturday and I'll be neck deep in processing on that Sun. Would it be possible to change to the next week-end, 11.4 or 5?
A trip through the valley to the gold country sounds very cool, expecially since we usually do one run up that way during the fall.

We'll try freeing up are calender on the 4th, but it is difficult with us having 2 kids. I was hoping you could make it that day still haven't got to see the graphite red combo that I wanted originally. Doesn't look like there is much intrest so far on the 22nd so maybe the wife and I will do a coastal cruise that day instead and keep the gold country fresh for the next weekend. If there is any others that are going on the 22nd in N. Cali please post the wife and I are free and wouldn't mind a nice drive to get together with others.

We don't have anything so far on our calender for the 22nd. If this trip holds up where would you want to make the rally point? We are only 15 - 20 minutes from Lodi as the Sky flys:lol: .

I was thinking 99 and kettleman at the Mc. Donalds there it sets us up to head straight out to the foothills. If people would rather we could do a delta run. We are open for anything in the area though so if there are other ideas let us know.

Cjegg,
If you are still up for it Barb and I are still up for the 22nd. I think it will be a great run, whichever way we go. The trees are turning now so it'll make a great Fall drive and photo shoot.

We are still on for the ride this Sunday. Bigdog if you can only make a delta run we'd like to just do that so we can get as many cars as possible. Let us know and we are looking forward to meeting up with you all.

My wedding shoot turned into a week-end deal. I've been asked to shoot the gift opening at brunch on Sunday as well as the wedding Saturday afternoon. I was hoping to get though at least the first cut on the processing and join in the fun. I really hate to miss this one since it looks to be great weather and a good route. Next time!

We can do a delta run or a gold country run whatever suits everyone else. I posted details for a delta run on the pacific thread already. If you all would rather we can do the gold country run, but I'm not as familiar so the best I can do is suggest a meeting place and see where the road takes us.

Gold Country Run Suggestion

Barb and I have really paced our Little Blue Streak on Highway 4. the roads offer a tremendouse amount of turns and twists and some really fun tight corners. We have gone up 4 to 49 and gone both right (to Murphy, Ca and the Ironstone Winery and the great town of Murphy and then through to Sonora, Oakdale, Manteca and back onto the freeway again to get home here in Tracy.
Going left on 49 we went through San Andreas, Jackson and Sutter Creek then took 16 to the 5 and back home again. There's a lot to be said for heading up the Gold Country road as it's turning to Fall and the trees are turning. If you want folks to break their neck looking you can't have picked a better route of small towns to see reaction.
The trip up 88 we haven't done yet and it goes up the Sierra's, which everyone I have met has told me is amazing, and goes to Picketts Junction at 7400 Ft altitude and then crosses to Fallen Leaf and Myers then back to Hwy 50 to Sacramento then home. If we take that route this may be the last opportunity this year as the weather looks good. Once the snow falls it's a wash until next spring or summer.
There are three routes we can propose in the Gold Country, we'd love to see everyone happy with a choice though. I'd like to meet you all, USMC hasn't chimed in yet either and it would be nice to meet up.
There's our two cents, the pictures we took are in my posts in the Pacific group. What ever the consensus we just want to meet you all!

LOL, ya... I haven't chimed in yet but I have been following this thread daily. Whatever you guys decide is fine with me. I didn't want to be part of the decision making as I can't commit just yet. I got the call today that my parts are finally in now its just a matter of getting the car into their shop.

You guys continue with the planning and I'll let ya know if I'll be able to make it or not. What I do know for sure is that I can't do it the 22nd weekend... my moms b-day weekend but the 28th weekend is a possibility. Again, you guys do whats best for the majority.

I'll chime in (again). I like the idea of a gold country run but as I said before this weekend (10/21-22) is booked for me. The following weekend , pref. Sat, would work better for me but I am being selfish here. You pick what works for you. There will be other opportunities for those who miss this weekend.

The suggestion by Starlight Sky to run up 88 and into Meyers should be taken very soon since the snow may fly soon.

Starlight you seem familiar with the gold country and we would love to make one of those runs. I've been through most of the area, but it has been a while. I'm in favor of letting you choose the route and meeting up with the group wherever it works out best for both. Kettlemen and 99 seems to be a good spot for people coming from most locations. I'm not sure what the travel time is on these routes so throw out a time. I think it would be nice to time it where we can grab dinner at the end of the trip. Bakchoy you still in? Bigdog my wife and I are trying to free up the 28th, but it has been tough. If we can free are selfs up we would love to cruise again but we will be at best tenative until right up to the day.

It turns I can't do this saturday (10/22), but maybe able to next weekend. Let me know what you decide
If it makes a difference the 22nd is this Sunday. Just in case your Saturday is booked, but your Sunday is free.

We'll check back tomorrow on the route. Glad to see something going.

Sunday Oct 22nd Sierra Sky Fall Run

Ok Folks,
Here is the proposed venue for our Sunday Sierra Sky Run, hope you like the plan:

We meet in Lodi:
McDonald's
(209) 333-1183
www.mcdonalds.com
200 W Lodi Ave
Lodi, CA 95240
Map it | Get directions

Starting from the rally point listed above at about 8:30 (?)
Head South on Hwy 99 to 120 East
Once on 120 we travel through Oakdale
http://www.ci.oakdale.ca.us/

First Stop is Historic Jamestown about 10:00 for early snack and photos
http://www.jamestown-ca.com/

Continue to Historic Sonora
http://www.sonoraca.com/home.htm

We turn onto Hwy 49 North and go to 4 East where we’ll head to Murphy, Ca

In Murphy there are great shops, a terrific Italian Bistro and Ironstone Winery with the worlds largest gold Nugget on display, over 44 Lbs.

Back down Hwy 4 to 49 North and through Angels Camp, San Andreas and Jackson

We have an option here to go to Sutter Creek just a few miles further up 49 or up 88 to S. Lake Tahoe.
If we stop in Sutter Creek it will be pretty much a final destination, there are a large number of Antique shops, resturaunts small stores and old historic buildings.

If we go S. Lake Tahoe Route we come back Hwy 50 then we’ll drop onto either 99 or 5 whichever folks want to take home or if they need to pick up Hwy 80 they can easily reach it from there.
I am inclined to say that the weather looks good at this point and the roads over to S. Lake Tahoe will be smooth sailing. Depending on the groups feelings about what the final leg should be we make the decision as we come out of Murphy’s. We haven’t run the Tahoe Route but everyone I talk to tells me it’s a breath-taking experience and view.
This will probably be the last opportunity for a run due to elevation at the pass.
(S. Lake Tahoe is on California side, no casino :nonod:)
If you want to join up at a different location let me know cjegg, this ones fine with me though.

The route looks great and we are up for going up to S. Tahoe. The start time is a little early for us we need to get our kids to the sitters in the morning and 9-9:30 works better for us. If that is to late for the others I'll send you my cell and on-star #s and we will meet you all at the first stop.
