All,

We have been hard at work to get us ready for the 2018 event.

We are holding a working meeting on April 22 at the Ameristar Hotel/Casino in Black Hawk Colorado. The committee began negotiations with the Ameristar in March and hoping to finalize much of the requirements this weekend.

I have seen other threads in regards to some of the events we are planning. Please ask any questions on this thread and I will do my best to reply within 48 hours.

The contract with the Ameristar Hotel is signed. We are working to have the website up and running for registration on the last day of the 2017 Nationals along with the ability to make resevations with the hotel at the same time. The team is working on the 2018 video which will be released at the awards night banquet later this month in Lexington.

We are putting together the vendor invite list currently.

We have a draft event schedule which we will be publishing once we open up the 2018 website to all of you. It is up and running but still undergoing final tweaking and video updates

Looks like 2018 will be our first National.

We just had to bail out on 2017 because the doctor just told Martha she would not be able to walk without a walker for at least two months. There just isnt room for a walker and wheel chair in a Sky.....LOL

For planing purposes, how about the dates? Just the approximate dates so I could block it out on my calendar would be a big help as I plan the next year.

Jim, I'm betting it is the third week of June, Monday through Friday/Saturday. That seems to be a lock on what I have seen in their past Annual Meets. Maybe it is listed on the Solstice forum as last I saw they have signed contracts with the facility.

It will be announced at the banquet at this year's Lexington get together, if tradition holds, or so I have heard.

OK, looks like the week of 17 June through 23 June includes the Solstice.

I can't wait for Lexington, and I am as excited for 2018. The drive is a straight shot on I-70, and pretty straight using US hwy. Lexington is a pretty straight shot, but I'm much more familiar with the westward drive than I am the eastward one.

Are you planning to announce the plans for activities during the Lexington Nat'l?

Just shows you how DEAD this forum has become....no one posts pics of the Nationals here...everything goes to FB. This used to be the EPICENTER.

I don't think that's showing how dead this forum is...I think it's showing the shift in how we share images. I'll admit it is FAR easier to snap a picture on my smart phone and immediately upload it to FB than it is to post it here.

Actually, the last few weeks this forum has been pretty active! It's been a lot of work to review all the threads and keep up on things. I've been playing catch-up the last month at least.

Would be nice to see pictures here too but is what it is.

Updates are posted here on 2018

Naassm 2018 **update** - Pontiac Solstice Forum

Website is up and running. Does not yet handle weekend reservations. Jim is looking into that. For now if you want weekend days, call the hotel and get them to add to your weekly reservation. Draft schedule is up for your viewing pleasure. Still in work and still accepting suggestions and requests.

https://www.nassam2018.com/

Also have created our own YouTube channel
https://www.nassam2018.com/

Will be sharing videos of pre-runs for cruises over the coming months so you can better anticipate what to see and select your activities.

We are investing as much effort into creating hotel based events as cruises. We recognize that many (maybe most) attendees choose to go on a run and then take some time off back at the hotel. We have events planned from cars and coffee in the morning through movies and dancing on the roof under the stars. S'mores around the campfire is also on the list.

We are also planning on bringing the Punisher Garage Day to the roof parking at the hotel and will be offering to do professional details for attendees cars as part of detailing training. And we are bringing the lift so we can do maintenance training for everyone while inspecting / working on a volunteer's car. These will run daily at different times so we can keep the class sizes manageable and make sure that everyone who wants to participate has a chance to do so.

We are doing our best to keep current with questions or input on the Facebook page but if you prefer to share here, that is fine as well. Or just PM me and I will do my best to be responsive.

Registration is underway. We will begin publishing metrics in a week or so. The site is working well. If you are planning on attending, early registration will assure you the best hotel rates.

There are several points of interest that are close to the Ameristar. Here are a few we are planning on providing on our cruise list.

Evergreen Colorado is a small mountain community that has shopping, sight seeing and multiple eating opportunities. The drive to get there is also a favorite with drivers and photographers.

The Shelby American Collection is a National level museum located in Boulder Colorado

Buffalo Bill is buried near Golden and the road to his resting place is a local favorite.

Mt Evans is a great cruise. If the weather performs as usual the highest paved road in CONUS will be open to us for a half day trip to the top. We are working with our event photographer to set up opportunities for some great pictures of you and / or your car at the summit. We are also testing an option to take video of your car traversing one of the most breathtaking portions of the road to the top.

We are planning dinner cruises to Idaho Springs. But they also offer shopping, site seeing, a mine tour and a Zip line.

Some of the food

Tommyknockers is a destination brew pub with lots of great food and BEER

Event badges are going to be mailed to all who registered starting next week. For anyone who wants to purchase a patch, either in addition to your registration patch or just because you admire the wonderful artwork, we are going to add a link to the 2018 website that will allow you to purchase patches directly. Our webmaster needs some time to create the update but its coming.
