Hi guys,

We bought a 2008 Sky 8 years ago with no mechanical problems at all. But all of a sudden, last week, the remote did not response anymore. I changed the battery without result so tried with the second set: same result. I looked at fuses but everything looks fine on that side... Since then, a few other electronical problems faced in: tire pressure do not show anymore, radio backlight goes on and off, speed control does not get in, radio sound does not work properly.

Does anybody faced those kind of problems and wonder if you know where it comes from?

Thanks!

Start with the battery. Classic symptom of a failing or failed battery is multiple random faults. Inspect the battery connections for any signs of corousion. make sure the battery is load tested. It may show acceptable voltage but due to sulfation fail to deliver the needed current to keep all the parts of the car happy all the time.

Check the verious grounds. Engine, frame etc for condition.

Check the sarter for corousion. The charging cable runs through there and the starter is known to have issues on some cars.

If its been running well for you and now suddenly having multiple faults and the battery is good, along with the supply side, then it is time to check the connections to the bus.

Was the battery disconnected, or did it go flat right before this happened? There was a problem with some 2008s that they would lse the programming for the RCDLR (Door lock and tire pressure receiver) if they lost power.

If that is the case you will have to go to a dealer or to a mechanic with access to the GM data system to get the module reprogrammed.

And do what Rob suggested.

Good suggestion John

We have been anticipating issues with our 08 with each battery change but so far, issues with losing programming. Just did a battery swap about three weeks ago. One way' to address this is to plug in a voltage source into the power point before disconnecting the battery. Basically you are keeping 12V DC on the car without the battery so you can avoid any issues as described.

Also, it's not unheard of for the keyless entry module behind the driver's seat to just fail and need replacement. If you're also having issues with the tpms then that may be your culprit. Although you can replace it yourself, it will need to be synced by the dealer.
