I have not been able to obtain any accurate information regarding a release date. Does any have that information? Also, does anyone really know the pricing schedule. I have asked my local dealer, but they are vague at best.

Either post or reply directly.

Spring 2006 as a 2007 model year, from what I hear....

EDIT:

And welcome to the forum!

But does Spring mean March or May? "It's a long, long way from May to December....."

Marc
Spring 2006 can mean July if October (at last count) deliveries of Solstice means Summer.
There isn't even an official release month for the Solstice, let alone a release date. You're just going to have to be patient and wait. The Sky could come out any time after Feb more then likely.

According to my new SKY Calendar it looks as though Saturn is tarketing March 21st 2006. The new calendar gives you a count down every month in how many days are left until Spring 06 arrives!
I got off the phone with a Saturn Dealer in Huntsville AL and she said she had spoken directly to Saturn and she told me she was positive that her first shipment was due Early February.
Delivery

From your mouth to G-D's ear, as my grandmother would say.
Just be glad the Sky isn't software. You might never see it. And if Microsoft produced the Sky you wouldn't own the Sky. You'd just have license to use it. If AutoDesk produced the Sky not only would you not own it but when you drove it to anywhere other than the place you are licensed to, you'd have to stop driving it or risk breaching the license and risk loosing your right to use your Sky.

Hows that grab ya.

PS Can you imagine if the software industry made license plates! Attention! The person who owns the car with licence plate w3f54-xtr78-quy43-pp123-993ew-ii321-xxt89, please move your car. Your plate is blocking the driveway.
With the delays the Solstice has suffered, I wouldn't take any firm date to heart just yet.

Hopefully Saturn will have a more solid date pretty soon. First they have to have Wilmington run some pre-production cars for additional testing, and those most likely won't run until the workforce is comfortable building Sol's and operating at the full line rate. They are still ramping up right now. I hope they don't let us wait until the 2006 NAIAS for info (January). Maybe they will have more at the Novemner SEMA show.
With Pontiac downgrading its projection for 12,000 units down to 7,000 units by end of year does lead to doubt that these cars can be produced as fast as other GM cars.

With that said, pre-production Sky cars are being produced now. I would expect the pre-production run to be completed by the end of October. GM is working to get the production lines up to speed, and the challenges are still present. One of the line workers made a comment several months ago that getting a car nearly hand-built for $20,000 is a real bargin. Demostrating that the production line is fighting a tough battle between mass production and getting quality vehicles rolling off the line correctly. As the days and weeks go forward these problems will be resolved and production numbers should increase.

Getting the Sky to market will be a challenge as well. Problems will be solved as new problems associated with a different vehicle are created. Given what GM faces in getting a new vehicle to market, I would not expect large volumes to be produced in the first 6 months. Again, get on your dealers pre-order list as high up as possible. Else you will be relating to those 1000's of Solstice buyers who placed their order in June and will be waiting come January 2006 for delivery.

Welcome MHW, looks like you have a whole lot of reading in this forum to do, yes? yes?

Angel,

I read, read, and read some more. Then I go from elated to depressed to elated depending on who writes what. I have put down a $1K deposit at my local dealer, but really have no idea what that really means to them or me. Do I really hold a place waiting for the Sky to arrive or does someone else 'get' my Sky because they happen to walk into the dealership as the car rolls off the carrier. It's one big crap shoot to me, but until Spring comes and goes I will hold out. I really want the Sky, but I do have fall back positions in mind. They do not include the Solstice.
MHW,
C'mon man, no need to be down in this place. We're all excited and elated to be getting the car!!!! List, schmist.... you're gonna get a car. And you'll have one before pretty much anyone else, no matter when it is, right? Yes, yes???? No worries baby! The more we learn and share in here, the more pumped AND patient we become. It's better to know that the Sol is out now and that the SKY will move forward on their setbacks. I'm happy. Everyone in here has a good attitude (that I've noticed) and we have a lot of knowledgable people in here that work in the industry, that tell us as much as they can, within their guidelines. Seriously, you're in good hands with Skyroadster.com and just be patient. We've got about another 6 months... more time to save for a down payment to have lower monthly payments, right????? yes, yes???????
Have a good night and don't dwell. :D

Don't forget in general most dealers are the worst source of information we have. We had no clue when Solstice's were going to arrive until the day one finally showed up. It's best not to believe these rumors and get a false idea about something that can be very fluid in nature. Dealership's don't even know how many cars they're going to be getting yet, so I'm pretty sure they're not getting solid information yet on when they're going to be getting cars, let alone GM to start making them.

Kappaman's post over here is a good read about this type of stuff;

Angel,

Learning and sharing any information is a good thing. I just know that each dealer is an independent agent of Saturn. So, they can do whatever they wish to do. Will I get my deposit back, sure! Will I remain 3rd on the list? That is entirely up to them unless I decide to camp out at the dealership and watch each delivery. Maybe being 60 makes me a bit of cynic, but I believe business ethics is an oxymoron.
Production of the SKY begins mid-January. We could start seeing them as soon as mid February as long as there aren't any significant glitches in the line. Lucky East-Coasters will get them first, but only because they are closer to Wilmington.

Even if production is slated to start mid-January doesn't necisarily mean it will. Everything is rumor/speculation till it happens. Don't fall into the same trap a lot of people at the Solstice forum did. They start seeing all these posts from people with "inside info" and take what they have to say as fact without thinking about it at all. In the end that just lead to people being dissapointed and eventually angry because they expected these 'leaked' dates to be true when they were necisarily not.
