I have my Sky back, and I believe I have the part numbers for the new plastic wheel wells. Many of you have PM'd me, I thought I would start a new thread.

I got these numbers off a sticker that was stuck on inside the wheel well. My service manager was not in when I just picked the car up. They said they are going to mail me my receipt, so I do not have any paperwork. Hope this info is helpful and that it is correct.

As to the new parts, they still have a flap that sticks out on the side of the doors, but there is some space in between...enough to fit 1 or 2 fingers between the tire and the plastic.

The dealer also replaced my trunk weather strip and the trunk now closes slightly easier. I had excess rubber on the left side.

The car is 100% perfect now with 334 miles on it. Lets hope it stays that way.

So this is a new part? If so I can understand some production delays.

Yes, this is a new part. There is some kind of design change. I believe the newer Skys will have this installed at the factory.

Besides the fenderqwells, it has a set of clips to hold the fender wells back.
That is what my mechanic told me. I plan to try to get some pix opf change out when mine is done. I will be with him thru every step. My parts are due fri or mon.

Yeah i think so , my dealer has ordered the new ones for mine.., i think he said he also ordered the ones for the other car he has delivered, when they checked it the passenger side was against the wheelwell even with nobody sitting in the car, that is why I don't think this is weight related.

When you say "newer Skys"...would that mean the ones scheduled to be built, say....in May? Or are they implementing this new wheel well ASAP?

I'm kinda surprised that your dealer allows customers in the service area...I was always under the impression that safety regulations prevented customers from entering the service bay area.

My understanding was that was :bs: to keep people out of the service area.

Insurance companies are really tuned to risk managment. We have to have drivers license records pulled every year to make sure that all our employee's that drive vehicles are not a risk. We had one employee that liked to have "fun" on the weekends with his motorcycle. That got him a few tickets. The insurance company said, "If you don't sign a release for him from coverage, we will drop your auto coverage."

The fact that the insurance company requires NO customers in the shop area doesn't surprise me at all.

Well...just from my personal experience...I own a Harley, and my dealer used to have a very 'open' service area...customers would constantly walk back there and observe techs working on their bikes. That quickly went away a few years ago, because techs were complaining that it was difficult to get any work done with a constant stream of customers milling around their service bays asking questions and wanting to just chit-chat. They have now gone to an enclosed service area with access only by use of a buzzer to get in...if you're not authorized to be in there (and that means customers), you are not allowed in...period.

My dealer has the sign "Due to insurance regulations no customers allowed in service area." BUT If they have something they want to show you they will come get you and escort you to the car and show you... they just don;t want people to get hurt. and if you are back there you usually don;t have safety glasses and the other safety equipment the insurance companys require...

Usually when it's a part fix like this with a resolved & final part they're implemented immediately.

Where exactly?

Is this where the tires are rubbing the wheel wells? This is the front side of the rear passenger tire. I have felt all around and there feels like enough room when it is parked. At this tire there is a good 1/2 inch or so between the front of the tire and the wheel well. The driver's side is about the same.

When I first received it and parked it after driving it for about 30 minutes both my daughter and I smelled something, but I smelled around the tires and didn't think that was it.

I have vehicle number 101367 so it is possible this problem was taken care of before mine was produced? Am I looking at the right place?

Thanks. This thread and others continue to give us consumers a lot of power, so let's keep it up.

Yours could have the new ones, my VIN is in the low 600's.

If you don't see any scuff marks on your plastic wells, nothing is rubbing. If you see plastic scuffed up, you are rubbing..

Your picture is the correct spot, rear axle on both sides.
