if you add back in my down payment it was $28,500.00 the car listed for $26,450.00

Every state has a different state tax charge. Virginia is 3%, Maryland is 5%. So, it will vary by state. It is based on which state you register it in, not purchase it in.

If you start with 24k and pay taxes and tags you are already looking at mid 25k. Go to Saturn's website and take a look at the option prices.

I got mine for low 26k but then again I didn't pick all the options I only picked spoiler, lsd and leather. I will list my exact bill of sale as soon as I can get to it today, but it does differ from state to state.

Its not the options its the taxes and fees. My SKY with all the options I picked (not exact here) is about $26,000. Rule of thumb around Chicagoland is add 10% for tax-fees lic etc. so $28,600

When it was all said and done, with the full price of the car plus taxes and fees, and an 6 year extended service plan and gap insurance and VA licensing and registration for my Sky came to just under 31,000.

The retail price of the car itself was 27,850 with taxes included.

actually it can vary a LOT . The car sales tax where I live now is 7%, but i know there are states that have like 3%. That 4% sales tax on a car with this pricetag is like a grand difference!!!! :willy:



and this is why I want to move out of here, that's a lotta money FOR SALES TAX, WTF!!

Yep, I got the heck taxed out of me on this purchase. I kinda got sucked(or suckered :lol: ) into it and paid a bit on the extras, dealer installed options. My total was around 32k. I don't mind it one bit, this is why I make money after all. I plan on paying it off within 2-3 years. California sure did a number on me with its tax though.

Now if you all think your tax's are high..

In Canada we have 2 taxes one 7% and the other 8% SO WE PAY 15% TAX!!!! Add that to a SKY that is already priced at $32,677.00 CAN YOU SAY OUCH.


BUT I cant wait for it, just not the monthly payment

I bought for MSRP plus sales tax (6% here for me)- No gimmic fees and add-ons. I did not buy locally as the local dealers are charging around $2K for gimmic add-ons.
MSRP was $25,225. Oh I did pay a $189 Administrative fee - Thats it.
Still need to pay title & tags - About $100 as I will transfer existing plates. My total bill will be about $26.5K.

My total with tax, extended warranty, $2000 mark up, options was $33,200.
Extended warranty was $1000, taxes and license were over $2800. Options totalled a little over $4000.
