Ok, here's the setting.

Driving my yellow SKY down one of the long roads near Washington DC. (No highway)

Top down... about 75 degrees at night (fahrenheit for you Canadians).

IPOD playing "in the air tonight" by Phil Colins with the top down and a perfectly clear sky above.

Wow, it was awesome... :)

Actually, my IPOD has everything from Nine Inch Nails to 50 cent to the Eagles, to the Doors. Actually there is some Madonna from my wife and some Kelly Clarkson.

Every man has a place, in his heart theres a space,
And the world cant erase his fantasies
Take a ride in the sky, on our ship fantasii
All your dreams will come true, right away

And we will live together, until the twelfth of never
Our voices will ring forever, as one

Every thought is a dream, rushing by in a stream,
Bringing life to our kingdom of doing
Take a ride in the sky, on our ship fantasii
All your dreams will come true, miles away

Our voices will ring together until the twelfth of never,
We all, will live forever, as one

Come see victory, in the land called fantasy
Loving life, a new decree,
Bring your mind to everlasting liberty

Our minds will explore together, old worlds, we conquer, forever
We then, will expand love together, as one

Come to see, victory in a land called fantasy,
Loving life, for you and me, to behold, to your soul is ecstasy
You will find, other kind, that has been in search for you,
Many lives has brought you to
Recognize its your life, now in review
And as you stay for the play, fantasy, has in store for you,
A glowing light will see you through

Its your day, shining day, all your dreams come true
As you glide, in your stride with the wind, as you fly away
Give a smile, from your lips, and say
I am free, yes Im free, now Im on my way

Earth, wind and Fire

My new favorite Sky Song!

Constellations by Jack Johnson (In Between Dreams album)

Here on the West coast I have always loved the evenings. I used to go to Sunset Cliffs in Ocean Beach to watch the sunset on the Pacific Ocean and drive the road along it in the evenings with my wife.
My son introduced me to Jack Johnson and I have all his albums, the young man is a genius and many of his songs are perfect for a number of settings. If you havent listened to an album of his pick any of them, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Constellations

The light was leaving in the west it was blue
The children’s laughter sang
And skipping just like the stones they threw
Their voices echoed across the waves
It’s getting late

And it was just another night
With a sunset and a moonrise
Not too far behind to give us just enough light
To lay down underneath the stars
We listened to Papa’s translations
Of the stories across the sky
We drew our own constellations

The west winds often last too long
And when they calm down, nothing ever feels the same
Sheltered under the Kamani tree
Waiting for the passing rain
Clouds keep moving to uncover the sea
Stars up above us chasing the day away
To find the stories that we sometimes need
Listen close enough and all else fades
Fades away

And it was just another night
With a sunset and a moonrise
Not so far behind to give us just enough light
To lay down underneath the stars
Listen to all translations
Of the stories across the sky
We drew our own constellations

Walking On Water
Artist(Band):Zididada

WHENEVER RAINY DAYS AND NIGHTS JUS' BRING ME DOWN
OR IF I LOSE MYSELF SOMEWHERE IN THE CROWD
ALL I GOTTA DO IS CLOSE MY EYES
AND IMAGINE THAT I'M LYING RIGHT THERE BY YOUR SIDE

I SEE YOU AN' IT'S ALRIGHT
MY SAD HEART COMES ALIVE

I'M WALKING ON WATER
FLYING IN A BLUE SKY
CHILLED OUT IN THE SUNSHINE
DREAMIN' 'BOUT YOU AND I
I'm TRIPPIN DOWN A FREEWAY
LAUGHING AT THE CLOUDS DRIFTIN’ BY
I’M WALKING ON WATER
DREAMIN’ ‘BOUT YOU AND I

AND THERE AINT ANYTHING BABY I CAN'T DO
YOU INSPIRE ME TO FOLLOW MY DREAMS THROUGH
MMM OH, ALL I GOTTA DO IS CLOSE MY EYES
AND IMAGINE THAT I'M LYING RIGHT THERE BY YOUR SIDE

I SEE YOU AN' IT'S ALRIGHT
MY SAD HEART COMES ALIVE

I'M WALKING ON WATER
FLYING IN A BLUE SKY
CHILLED OUT IN THE SUNSHINE
DREAMIN' 'BOUT YOU AND I
I'm TRIPPIN DOWN A FREEWAY

Hey, whatever floats your boat.

Sometimes I just turn the music off and listen to the exhaust note.

My wife found that song from the VW commercial where the people go for that night drive with the top down. I must say it is a good selection.

But it is hard to top "In the Air Tonight" especially since it is connected with night driving with the top down in "Miami Vice"

Also try "I Don't Care Anymore" by Phil Collins. The Heavy drums help the sound system really kick and the song has a nice edge to it.

I also like to drive to the music featured in the video game Burnout Revenge. Those people knew how to pick some good driving music for a driving game.

For top-down driving you can't really listen to anything subtle. It needs to be clear and distinct and simple.

Lately, I've enjoyed listening to "The Hardest Part" by Coldplay.

It's tough to go wrong with "Lights" by Journey. In 1978 I sat in 1977 Cutlass Supreme with T-tops near Sausalito and listened to the 8-track of Journey's "Infinity"..."When the lights go down in the city"......anyway I digress.
