Hi fokes, a little input please
My sky has paint problems
First, clearcoat missings on right rear about the size of a quarter
which they painted because it could become a larger problem later on
now it looks like its been painted
plus it has over spray on other parts of the car and the top
Second, there is a paint run on the bottom of the passenger door
which i did not want painted because now were talking about half
of the right side would have been painted
Third, there is dirt spot under the paint on the hood that looks
like a pimple on your nose, i don't want that painted because
now were looking a about half the car would have to be painted.
every step i take makes it look worse.
i got a new car and now it has 525 miles and been painted on parts
and needs paint on others. I don't like repaints
what would other people do?

Good grief, how horrible for you. Myself, I'd insist they give me a new car. What the hell?? :mad: You paid for a new car, should expect perfection if it's new. I'd take it back. Just mop... Good luck

does the paint not match? I know it's really hard to match even a new car if you are just painting certain parts. Could they just repaint the entire car?

The paint run is crazy, the dirt spot under the paint on the hood is crazy too. Did your saturn dealership do the repainting on the rear?

If its not perfect, make them make it perfect.

no the dealer did not do the job.
they don't have paint shop, they sent it next door
matching depends on the light
but over spray on the top? not much but there.
over spray means buffing which means swearls in paint
i don't dont to have to wait for another car because
i only had to wait 3 weeks for this one but i don't
like a repainted new car and after what i see so far
i don't think they could make it right

Well turn it back in and demand a NEW car because you are the customer and you need to be happy! I personally would give them one single attempt to repaint the ENTIRE car and it had better look damn perfect when done! After that I would demand a new car, but I'd give them a chance first... My .02 cents :thumbs:

Delivery Inspection?

When you picked up the car did you go over the car looking for defects before taking delivery? Everything I didn't like and they couldn't fix immediately they gave we owe slips. If you excepted the car knowing these defects it limits recourse. But if they are a good dealer they will do everything in there power to make you happy

Doesn't Saturn have a 30day/1500mile vehicle exhcange policy?

You have the right to exchange the car within a limited time period if you are not satisfied--it's Saturn's policy. From what you've been describing, you need to notify the dealership ASAP!.....................Good Grief!................:cool:

Just talked to GM at dealer and he said would not be able
to do exchange because it would have to be done within 30
days which would be 5/24 but that there are no cars available
and the exchange has to be complete within 30 days.
he says he will make it right, we'll see
this is the dealer that charged me nearly three times to much
for extras that i did't want and said they go with the car or
they will sell it to someone else if i did't want them:mad:
then had to go back to have them installed.
but the wife really wanted this car, so what was i to do.

tell him to do a dealer trade or something, they're able to ship 'em, i guarantee there are a few ones out on other lots.

and since you overpaid, even if the other lots have stupid accessories, your'e still covered

Dos'nt Saturn have a quality control dept.? This sounds like a great opportunity to have SATURN buy YOU a top dollar CUSTOM paint job. Cool new paint would be my choice.(Candyapple red with pearl red ghost flames, OHMAMA.)

as cool as a custom paint job is, make sure you're planning on keeping the car for a while. custom paint jobs scream *serious damage* to used car buyers

Yesssssss, supergood opportunity and possibly a few extra clearcoats to boot.

Here is what you need to do:

First off, talk with the general Manager about the problem. Saturn is trying very hard to keep people happy as they are hoping additional sales of their other NEW cars coming out in 2007 will be sold based on the Sky owners recommendations. You might have to remind them about that.

Anyway, if the GM can't or won't do anything, then this is the next best choice for you:

Take good photos of the problem areas. Scan in or take photos of any paperwork you may have from the dealership regarding the repaint job they did (and remember that THEY did the paint job- even if they jobbed it out, they are the ones who had it done and therefore are responsible for it). Carefully write an email regarding the problems, in a very formal way as you will get better attention than if you yell and scream. Attach the photos to the email and then email them to Saturn and ask for a reply back ASAP.

Saturn doesn't have an exchange program for the Sky, only 2006 models. If a dealer happens to have an unsold Sky sitting on the lot, then they might honor it, but they are not required to do so.
Just go through the proper chanels and then ask for a couple years of free oil changes or OnStar or something of the like- for your trouble.

Decisions,Decisions,Decisions. OK i'll take mine with that new paint and a really hot blonde. ( Warning; this is not the proper way to resolve this.) Seriously i'de vote for #15

Are you sure that Saturn doesn't have a return policy on the Skys? I think that I remember the mention of the return policy in the back of the Sky brochure.

FYI
I too was hit with a $3000.00 increase for an alarm system I never asked for and was told the same thing. Take it, pay it, or lose the car. I love the car so I'm going to eat it, but I did talk to an attorney who is looking into it, and I called Saturn Corp. and they too are looking into it with my dealer. They are not happy about the gouging by dealers, but really have no control over what the owners are doing. But I was told they are looking into talking to the dealers about this unfair practice. What you are describing is too much, I'd really be :mad: off too!!! Good Luck!!
