Wow -- at least this person took a bunch of solid pictures for us to see. Nice to get good shots of some of the less photographed stuff like the key fobs and manual, invoice, and engine. On the other hand, its kinda sad too, I guess this person is more of a business person than he/she is a car lover.

Im trying to make out what dealer is on the plate frame, can anyone tell?? -- given the VA state inspection and inclusion of the front plate bracket it must have been bought in VA and then shipped/towed to Columbia, SC.

Given the fact its one of the first auctioned Skys and it is a "Featured Plus! Listing" I think the attention it gets will earn it a final price of just above 30k -- but I dont think that will be the common price for auctions for very long.

saturnofscottsdale ( 0 ) is one of the bidders (currently the high bidder) -- you think this is a dealer hoping to get one to mark up and sell??

Well, if they are buying it for a mark up on eBay, I would think they would also need to sell it for more on the lot... sad...

MSRP $25,825, for a profit of $3,719.

BUT the user bought the car, titled in his name, in South Carolina. 5% sales tax = -$1,291.

Count maybe another $100 for title/license? Total is -$1,400. Not counting the few weeks of insurance the owner paid.

Total profit is now down to $2,300 or so. (eBay charges for the advertisement and stuff).

The NEW owner is assumed to be in AZ, specifically Scottsdale (AZ vehicle sales tax differs by municipality). They get to pay 7.95% of the PURCHASE price, and title transfer/license (??? Maybe $100?). Their brand new SKY which they purchased off eBay just cost them almost $32,000

If they are a dealer, then they have to put a pretty penny markup on it. Doesn't seem like a smart move in my book, since I talked with a guy who "claims" that his local Saturn retailer gave him an "employee" discount (they are a GM employee) price assuming available, but hey, some folks have to be first on the block.

About the Sky auctioned on eBay....
I just had to ask the winner... WHY? Being a dealer and all, so I did and here's his response (in chilli pepper red, LOL):

Good question. I bought the car to keep here and to display it at venues around the city of Scottsdale. I'm only getting about 16 from the factory and they are all sold. As a matter of fact, I'm sold out till 2007. Incidentally, all of these are sold at MSRP or sticker price with no mark-up.That's the we do things at Saturn. The Sky is a big hit here as you can imagine convertibles in this price range as nice as the Sky are very popular. I plan on keeping the Red Sky all year long and did not have a problem paying a little over the market value for the car. Call it additional advertising expense that I can spread out throughout the year. If and when the car is sold it will be sold at MSRP also. Thanks for your question.

Well, there you go.... and another "no gouging" dealer to add to the list of where to by a Sky!

Actually, although SC sales tax is 5%, I believe there is a $300 cap on car purchases, so that would increase the profit by a good chunk.
