I think they earned it when they won the Mille Miglia (the second place car had an Argentine driving it (Fangio) and then the Tourist Trophy and Targa Florio to win the world championship. I doubt Uhlenhaut was too put out that there were no German drivers in the top spots (Kling and Herrmann also ran the cars).

Regarding the Pointed Sky versus the rounded Solstice humps. I always thought the Solstice was a bit more appealing until I owned my Sky for a short time. So I guess it depends on which one I own.

I am not sure why people state the Sky humps are bigger / taller than the Solstice ones. Obviously that is not the case.

Some proof in THIS FORUM THREAD

That might be the ugliest Solstice I have ever seen, but it does have big "humps".

"Spent $500,000+ on a Solstice to make it look better? I could have done it for less - just pry the emblem off the front of it and glue it onto nice used ferrari!

There was also an early Miata that had humps. I saw one only once and thought it was interesting. Not that I would ever buy a Miata. Don't know what year is was but was older than our kappas.

A couple of years after I took delivery of my beautiful MARiSOL, I was driving on the interstate and I saw the humps of another Solstice up ahead of me. I exceeded the speed limit a little to catch up with it. Imagine my disappointment when it turned out to be just another Ferrari F430 Spyder.

Why are the " humps " importance or their differences to you?
Just for spec purposes, or are the trunk lids inter-changeable
between the two models?
Everyone likes... a good hump or two now and then. Please let your
imagination take this- to the next level.
It's Hump Day- here a hump, there a hump. Humpty Dumpty had a
great fall- hey did you know that camels have a hump too? I humped
a college co-ed once.. does that count? Never mind...

Are there aero dynamic properties to these humps? I would say yes to some
extent, air flow over the wind shield, open cabin, short wheel base- with or without
the wing. The wind tunnel tests done in the engineering phase development process
should reveal some clues to why the humps are there in the first place maybe?

Are they cosmetic in nature- a designer's influenced retro flash back to earlier
cars of a by-gone era? Maybe- Ferrari/MB- others who have had humps- the old
D Type Jag comes to mind here.

FWIW- I think they are unique to our cars only. I have not seen any new cars with
humps- or an after market fad of adding humps. The Humps- the sleek body style,
the reverse opening trunk lid, the clam shell engine hood these are the things that
attract the eye- when pulling into a gas station per se- full of clueless people who
wonder in amazing when something different than their boring old sedan or mini
van/SUV is viewed. Wait a second honey- I gonna check out a nice set of humps.
U going to do what now hubby? Oh really... hmmmm k. She might be checking
a big ole cam shaft out here too- just say'n. Double DD- Humps.

Thanks- yeah most of the time I go off the deep end here
with detailed description over dose- or the odd out of the box
humor inception to disrupt the normal flow of our conversations.

These recent photos of other model cars with humps is
refreshing. The modern day Porsche or Ferrari are prime
examples of hump-a- tude designed in to their models.
Good enough for Stuttgart and Modena good enough for me.
The old T Bird at 4000 lbs. an executive cruiser an upscale
model from the original model that had humps if I recall.

I think it was our dear departed member skersfan R.I.P. that had
a unique aftermarket light bar added between or above
the humps. Only time I've seen that done on our model.
Different a second wing/foil with 3rd brake light equal to the
the front windshield height.

* Took my car out the other day- first top down drive of the
season. 2 hours just kicking around with it.
Glorious it was. Just what the doctor ordered for me. The race track
is calling my name too- trip down to Summit Point soon. Meet my old friends
again. Taking the Sky in for service soon- got my Relief check from the Gov't
today. Then a good trip to the ocean front next month, maybe a Go-Pro
You-Tube adventure capture worth posting. At least 3 good runs planned
this year- filming wise stay tuned. Weather is getting better, got extra $ for
the Sky maintenance and.... Runs planned too- Life is good when you own the Kappa.
The looks I got from the drivers that other day- jaws open, finger pointing
Hey buddy.. what IS that car you're driving there? I never get tired of it. Ever.
Humps or no humps- the masses are still interested about our model- just say'n.
