As great as the big rides are, and as much as I look forward to them,
they're a bit hard to use to get to know folks here.
Is there any interest out there for just getting together for dinner
and catching up with one another?
No event, or drive, except to get to whatever restaurant we pick.

To kick things off in some direction, as we have a cluster of people down
in the OC area, how about an early Saturday evening somewhere down towards
or in OC? Nothing outrageously fancy or out of the way. Just get together.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Well, not much to know at this point. We don't want you to call in sick.
Beyond that, get a couple folks, pick a place and keep it real light and easy.
As we ought to try something down your way, I guess the OC-ites should pick a place that's reasonably simple to find,
and we're off.
Not much to plan, aside from picking a date which works for a few.
This Sat, next Sat, any Sat after that.

I guess we see how folks weigh in, but wanted to get the tone and complexity set.
I doubt that it'll be a one time event, no nothing to really schedule hard, or worry about missing.

Some of the areas to consider-- Brea, Huntington Beach, The Irvine Spectrum, the Disneyland area (including Downtown Disney). We've eaten in several of these areas. All good food. Does anyone else have any thoughts.

Dave and Busters at the Spectrum has lots of space to relax, shoot pool, hang out... I go there with my team from work all the time.

Hi All, you know me, always up for some R/R with the Sky Family. Sounds like fun so you can count me and Louie in. Let's just find a place with good parking.

This is a great idea! We will not be in town on 8/19, but other Saturdays are available. Looking forward to dinner with our So Cal Sky family :)

I like this idea... I've confirmed with the hubby that we'll go wherever.

Ahh, you can't get away with that!
What do you think?
Can you toss some ideas in for us? Surely you've got some?
We'd love to get you out from behind the monitor. This one might just work for that!

I, for one, would be interested. I would like to get to know some of our brothers and sisters of the Sky!

Ok, guess I should fake my way through pushing this along.
Since you can't steer a parked car, I'll toss together a straw-man
by throwing some stuff against the wall and we'll see where it goes.

Here's a candidate to consider.

Next Sat 8/19 5pm, dinner in OC country.
I haven't a clue as to what's down there, but ya'll put a few things out,
so I'll leave it to the collective to sort that out.
Guessing from response and padding a bit, say party of 20-24?

We could go sooner, but this Saturday is pretty much here and some may have plans.
Time was backed into based on how long folks may want to hang out plus any of the longer drives some may have.

Any consensus here? Adjustments, mods, refinements?

Bummer. I won't be able to make it that weekend. That's 3 days post-op. And even if I let my husband drive (for the 3rd time ever), I think it'll still be too soon. I can catch up on the next one.

Another idea I had was a trip to the Peterson Automotive Museum. I thought that would be cool too.

And finally, I spoke to an "Amy" at Descanso Gardens and we are cleared to meet in the parking lot on Saturday September 9th before our ride up Angeles Crest Highway to Newcombs for lunch. It'd be great to get a good size group up there. It'll be a good, solid, hard drive with better twisties (not as tight), better roads and food and drink at the end.

Perfect location and time, bad date. I'm gonna be in Monterey visiting junior that weekend. The 20th is her birthday... And I'm going to the Angels game on the 26th, so that day is bad, too. Looks like I'm going to have to catch you next time.

Maybe we could do it for a Sunday Lunch on the 27th
