I'm tired of the "over sticker" fight with some Saturn Dealerships!:brentil: I keep seeing posts that say that solstice people are waiting still...WHY?:willy: Between 3 dealerships within 10 miles of each other there are over 10 solstice sitting AT MSRP! All colors, all kinds! Don't believe me just call this one 586-465-1281 he has 6-8 alone!

SATURN better learn from this and take care of your current and FUTURE customers!

And if you don't want to wait for a SKY, or if your dealer is screwing you with "over MSRP" ask for your deposit and tell him thanks, and take your business elsewhere! Or breakdown and by the SOLSTICE that is sitting on lots!

I bet once the weather gets better here in Michigan...even these Solstices will be gone!:driving:

As far as I know, most Saturn dealers are selling at MSRP. Unfortunately, the dealers have every right to sell above MSRP. Its up to the consumer to buy from them or not. My dealer says he will sell at MSRP, but of course if that changes, I wont buy at all. Wait for the price to drop if the dealers are greedy.

My chief complaint is not that my dealer is charging $5,000 over MSRP. It is that he didn't disclose that on April 26, 2005 when he took my deposit. If he had, I'd be # 1 on somebody else's list.

Either he knew there would be an upcharge and failed to disclose it (wrong, wrong, wrong), or there was no plan at that time to charge the premium (in which case, I argue the upcharge should not apply to me or anybody else who put down a deposit PRIOR to that policy decision).

Damn straight! Got anything in writing?
If not. Back of the line at another? Front of the line for the redline?
It's all relative to your patience level. Up to a week ago I didn't know the car existed. I feel for all you people that have been waiting so long. I should have said no when my brother asked me to go to the auto show. I wouldn't have started jones'n till they were hitting the street.
Ignorence is bliss.
Speaking of which.
If the redline is going to be a 2.0 so you can't upgrade your current sky using stock Gm parts. Freakin briliant by the way GM?:willy:
How much would it cost to put a sky front on the hotted up version of a sol? No S out O Luck jokes please. I might sound polish now but wait till your looking at the tail end of my Solsky GXP. :jester:

I think if your dealer is selling at over MSRP you have several things working for you.

First is the experience the Solstice dealers are having with the cars sitting on the lot. The dealer Pontiac dealer near me has two Solstii sitting in his showroom.

Second is the fact that a lot of Saturn dealers seem to be selling the Good old Saturn way. The cars are at MSRP.

Third is a double edged sword for both you and the dealer. He seemingly has the right to sell the Sky at what ever price he wants to. You also have the right to tell him to screw off and buy the car from someone else. He risks the car not selling and the car sitting in his showroom for a prolonged period of time. You risk not getting a Sky for a while.

The free market works both ways. I'd tell him to go jump in the lake if I were in your position! I think some of the people on waiting lists will back out as time gets closer to the sale. I was #4 on my dealers list. Now I seem to be #1. Go figure.

Good luck with your decision.

hey guys and gals, this is my first post, I work for a saturn dealership as a sales consultant, and I have just learned that we will be charging a 2500 mark-up. I for one think that this is very un-saturn like as both my wife and I have both owned 3 saturns a piece. I work for saturn soley for the reason that we have always been treated differently at a saturn dealership.

I myself will be getting a black or white sky in the near future (possibly redline) but refuse to pay the x-tra 2500 (yes, they were going to charge employees as well) kinda sucks, but I will wait.

Hang in there guys (and ladies). We had the same problem getting Solstices at MSRP. After a lot of people put out calls they found cars that dealers would sell at sticker. Don't play their game. If they are asking too much look for another dealer. Once you buy the car, any Saturn dealership has to accept the maintenance and warranty work. Give your money to the good dealers and your problems to the dealers who are playing games with the price. It has seemed to work on the Solstice side.
