Wondering if someone can help me source the issue here. My stereo no longer sounds very good, it is a stock head unit with USB and Monsoon system. Not sure if it is an AMP or Speaker problem but the voices for the most part seem depressed and deeper than they should be and somewhat distorted. Think I may have had it cranked a little too loud on the highway with the top down and hearing protection in (I know, I know).

Thoughts?

Thanks!

To begin with....did u add the Saturn USB head unit? I ask that question because it was only available from the factory as an option in 2009. That being said...u may wish to change your radio settings...it may help. Remember, we have a convertible. Nothing really helps significantly even if u change your speakers...do not install a cobalt USB radio because it comes with headaches.

This is so weird! My factory stereo started doing this yesterday when I tried to listen to music through the AUX input. The music sounded distorted with the lead vocals depressed and muffled. It sounded really weird. The radio and the CD were fine. Got back in the car later and tried it and everything was fine.

I don't have an answer....just weird!

That one sounds pretty easy to me: There is corrosion or contamination in the aux input jack. Unplugging and re-inserting the plug will frequently clear that up.

Speaker damage is my first thought.
That was my initial thought. Wondered though if I might have damaged the amp?

It is a Saturn Sky USB Head Unit. The car came without USB and I located a new USB Unit and installed. No issues the first year. Noticed the sound problem late last year and have tolerated it since, but should do something about it soon. Can't have a better sounding stereo in the Hyundai and Truck!

That was my first thought. Not knowing much about stereos I wondered about damage to the amp as well.

It is a Sky USB unit. Bought it new off of eBay a couple of years ago and installed myself. Worked great the first year. Noticed the crappy sound late last year and ready to remedy. Can't have a crappy stereo in such a nice car ;).

CD Issue

I still have the stock stereo which works but the CD player shows "No Disc" even when there is one. Likely not much can be done for it other than replacing the head unit I would guess.
