Ahh got me on that one... My oversight...but you get what I mean...
Thats why there are so many differnt kinds of cars out there, not one is perfect .. every owner of every car can find some little thing that they think should have been better if it had only been designed differently...
Being in engineering and knowing the cost of things I work with you sometimes have to make compromises, just to bring the thing in under budget...
If we wanted to wait 5 more years and pay twice as much I bet they could fix most of the complaints listed in these forums, but even with that someone would complaining about how long it took or how much it cost, or they would still find something wrong with it....
I got your point and it has some validity.
That said, most of us became interested in the Sky because of its design and we believe that with a bit of luck, it may have sufficient attributes which will cause us to buy one. Price is only one issue. If it handles and performs like a Hummer, then it wouldn't matter how beautiful or cheap it was, it would only sell to those whose only criteria is cheap and beautiful.
For many others, like me, it'll have to meet other criteria, or we will choose another roadster - such as, I'm 6'5" and if I can't fit, I will quit.
As for your comment "
so many different kinds of cars out there, not one is perfect", That is not necessarily correct. My 2003 Z4 is perfect in virtually every respect (for me). Handling, performance, interior room, trunk space, design, absence of squeaks & rattles, etc,etc is the best I've ever had and can find no area where it could be improved.
By the time the Sky RL comes out I'll have had it for GT 4 years and so I've begun my search for a possible replacement early. My default is to hold onto my Z4 for several more years.
People on this forum can only comment on what they see - the design and visible features. We could sit here and talk all day about how pretty the car is and not comment on the other obviously visible features which may fall short of "world class" but that would be kinda boring, eh?
The bigger issue will be what we can't see and that is how will it handle and perform relative to its competition?
Will it match the Miata, will it come within artillery range of entry models of the S2000. Boxster, Z4, TT, Z350?
If not, that's when people will weigh the options you pointed out..
