Stripping painted alloys???

I read that some people were thinking of getting the painted wheels and then getting aftermarket rims later. Would it be difficult (or expensive) to get your painted wheels stipped and then either polished or chrome plated by a third party? Just curious. You could have it done during winter when you aren't driving.

I am not sure how much it would cost, I have never done it... but I sent you a phone number to a place I found online in Pittsburgh that does it. Hope it helps.

Let me know how it works out.

To exchange the stock painted rims for chrome plated ones costs $895 for the wheels on a new Corvette. I imagine the Sky wheels would also be in this range, maybe less. dDon't forget the added expense of switching the tires and balancing the wheels.
The factory chrome are a beter deal...if they were only more avaiable.

Just called a place in Pittsburgh and they said they can definitely strip and chrome the painted wheels on the SKY (~1000) total. Not too much more than GM price for the rims. So I'm gonna get my painted ones, see how I like, them and then go from there. If I want chromed, I'll just get it done over the winter. Thanks for the info by the way! I did have 1 question: Is the center piece on the rims with the Saturn logo a cap that comes off? Thanks!
