The only thing I really don't like about the exterior styling of my Sky are the rear taillights. They just look a little too "ricerish" for my taste. Besides smoking them or putting the tint on them, is there any thing else that can be done? Ideally, I would like to have them just plain 'ole red like the Sol's.

Thoughts??

Agree

There must be others out there that are looking for aftermarket mods to the rear lights. I've seen other suggestions in other posts, but have yet to see an aftermarket solution. Perhaps we should put the bug in the ears of Kappasphere and the other aftermarket folks who have brought exceptional products to date.

not too much u can do with the stock appearance...but u can make them more noticeable when braking and turning...add a pulser to your 3rd brake light and sequential/alternating lights to the tails...looks great when working.

Have you seen Eloy's taillights on brutus. I believe he tinted them red. Search brutus and I'm sure you will find them.

Good find...I'll ping him and see what was involved. Thanks!

Should still be some kind of aftermarket for the taillights though...

You could also paint the flat section of the tail light to match body color, than smoke or tint the rest.

I painted the top section black as that's what I wanted on my silver/pearl, than tinted the rest to what I thought would keep me out of trouble with the law!.

Nicely done...I like that. I guess you took them apart and tinted/painted from the inside? How bad was it?

back in the day we did this to the reflectors on the old escorts when i used to work on them.. we used testors candy red i think, and a few coats of clear coat, dont forget to sandgrid it down.... they ended up looking great.. but then again these were over reflectors not over lights so im not quite shore

Actually I removed the light from the car and painted and smoked them on the outside of the glass!

I did buy a used tail light off ebay and tested to see if I could open it up but they must be put together with glue of some type cause they don't open up. They may have to be heated to release the glue, tar, but I have no way of knowing how to open up the light without trashing it!

Here is a link to a better picture:

Spray it on in layers untill you get the tint you want!

You can buy it at your local hobby shop!

:)Ernie who is sending me my eyelids and had done alot of the eyelids for forum members. :dthumbs:.. says he could do tinted tail lamps as well... may even start a tail lamp core program if there was enough interest in that. he has been doing that for years now, mostly for the guys with Magnums and Chargers, but he could do it for all cars really.
Here is an album he sent me to look over....the work looks awsome..maybe that could help...not sure on his prices...ect... or if he can tint in red.. :dunno:

I like the red tinted lights, but seeing what he wants for the plastic covers, I'd hate to see his price for the tinted lights..

Ive not studied the lights on my sky real well. But they seam a lot like the factory headlight on my GSXR sportbike. To Pull them apart and modify them you have to put the headlight in the oven. Heat it to 130 ish. Then pull it out and seperate the halves. When finnished just pop it back together and use silicone to seal it up well.
