Since so many people are upset because they cannot test drive a Sky at some dealers, thought it would be interesting to see how many people test drove a Sky before purchase and how many did not. I personally did not test drive one.

Anyone else?

With saturns return policy......

and my wife interested in an Aura, I figured how could I loose. Even without the return policy though, I must admit the Sky would have been ordered anyway:D No test drive for me and in fact the closest I've come to a Sky is 10 feet at the car show some months ago!!!!

Did a test drive the first day it arrived. I thought it was a little underpowered, but other than that it was great.

I placed my order after only seeing the car in photographs. I didn't see the car in person until last November at the SF auto show. My order turned into an image in Feb. The first time I got to actually touch, sit and drive the car was last weekend.

Thoughout all this I have been fixated on this car. It was gorgeous in pics, great to look at at the car show but absolutely incredible in side and out.

This is a long winded way of saying - I ordered this car well before being able to test drive it.

I'm not test driving it. First, given everyone's positive reviews so far and the popularity of the similar solstice, I'd be surprised if I didn't like it. Second, even in worst case scenario and it stinks, you can turn around and sell it on Ebay for over cost at this point and make a tidy profit.

Hard to make a mistake with such a beautiful car.

To say I "test drove" a sky would be to say I was driving to test if it was the car I wanted. The answer to that is NO! :nono:

However, I did go to a dealer that had a Demo and took it for drive, simply for the fun of it.

SOV has gotten there Demo as well. I will be going over there for another "Test Drive" :driving:

I test drove the Solstice during a GM Auto Show in Motion (really neat event if you can get to one - can test drive most GM cars and even some competitors for comparison). Both my wife and I liked the way it drove, but were less than impressed with the style, and about a month later we saw the Sky and fell in love with it. Ordered it in Jan and didn't get to drive the Sky until last week. So I guess I orderd it without driving the actual car, but did test drive it. :willy:

Test drove the Sky last night...

My local dealer just got in their first Sky and I drove it last night. This white Sky had the premium interior (black/tan), single disk monsoon, and LSD. I test drove a 2006 MX-5 Miata 6spd manual about 3 weeks ago. Comparing the two, I liked the handling, size, fully covered stowed top, stereo, ease of maintenance access (clamshell hood), and overall looks of the Sky better. The MX-5 was better in acceleration, braking, ease of top stow/raise, and elimination of wind blast into the interior with the top down.

This test drive confirmed that the Sky is the right car for me but that the Redline version is worth the wait, as the acceleration of the base Sky just doesn't scream sports car to me like the test drive in the MX-5 did. I fully expect the Sky Redline to be a much better sports car than the MX-5 in all accounts except for maybe ease of use of the top, but the better styling of the Sky more than makes up for that.

Test drove the Solstise. Same chassis and drive train since they are both made at the same plant. Only differance is body and some minor interior changes. So if you want the feel, drive the Solstise. Ordered mine 3/13/06.
Chili pepper red
Premium trim
Spoiler
6 Disc Stereo w/Monsoon
Limited-slip diff
18" chrome wheels ( may be my holdup as they have a vender problem)

I was fortunate enough to drive the demo, (already sold), at my dealers.
I wouldn't commit to buying until I drove one.
Don't be concerned I you haven't had the opportunity to drive one, because I was blown away at the comfortable ride the suspension offered, to say nothing of the slot-car like steering.
The car I drove was a 5 speed. If you're used to a manual shift car, the 4 cylinder engine won't be disappointing, because the power band seems to get you to the revs you want when you need them.
Fear not....you've made the right decision

This would have been a good Poll to do!

Me, didn't test drive. Paid down in June 2005, won't get the Sky until May 2006.
