My fellow co-worker probably wants to knock me out by now because ever since May 9th when I put my deposit down I have been so anxious to get my Sky and I keep talking about it. Today he asked me if I would drop my spot in line to pick up a car that would do circles around a Ferrari, Corvette, Lamborghini, etc... for only a little bit more in price. I told him he was full of it and quickly followed up with 'The answer is NO', but I was tempted to see what he was talking about anyways. :jester:

"'The Atom was truly a surreal machine to extract times from. It reached 100mph in just 6.8 seconds. Overall time 0-100mph-0: 10.88 seconds. WOW'"

"On the surface we'd have been stunned if it had hit 60mph in 3.1 sec but, when all six runs were completed, these were the numbers we were faced with: the 'slow' run into the wind took 2.94 sec, the return just 2.88 sec, to give an average 0-60mph of 2.91 sec.'"

P.S. - The best part is this car is completely street legal in the U.S. (from what I've read so far)

- It seems GM is still posting TPW dates externally on Solstices but not Sky's... Anyone know the current status of tentative build dates before/after the July shutdown? I hate being left in the dark about this...

It is street legal and I actually considered one before the Sky. My biggest problem with it is, at least here in CA you have to register it like a kit car, which means you have like 2 days at the beginning of Jan to try and get it registered before the DMV fills their yearly limit, which usually happens on the first day.

You have to go through a lot of hoops too to get it to pass inspection. So then I was looking at the GX3 from VW that they showed at the LA auto show, but then VW axed that project. When I finally saw the Sky it was love at first sight and compared to the Atom and GX3 it was a much more practical car :)

Oh and it also used an Ecotech engine, although they supercharge it all the way to 300HP. Here is the Top Gear clip of the Atom with the infamous Jeremy Clarkson getting his face ripped off by one. The UK version uses a Honda engine.

Atoms cost around $50,000 in the US so they are not exactly cheap.
