Ok, my regular Sky should be here in about a month. I am thinking really hard about getting the Redline when it comes out. What do you think would be my best option? Should I just trade in my reg Sky when the Redline is released, with my dealer? Or should I try to sell it outright? I would assume that this car is going to retain it's value, but I am not sure how long it will retain it after the Redline is released. Anyone have any plans for themselves on this?

Of course, I may just change my mind completely and keep my reg Sky. If the Redline is way more expensive, or whatever.

My opinion is to buy your sky, enjoy it, and when the redline comes out, make your decision. But, don't trade your sky in on the redline...sell it yourself, you will get more money for it:thumbs:

Enjoy your sky till the redline comes out. Then sell it. You should have no problem finding a buyer :)
That's probably what I'll do. Thanks.

Enjoy your regular Sky till the Redline becomes available, then sell. You should be able to get exactly what you paid for it.........

Sky coming to Portland OR next week

I am the first on the list to buy the floor model once it shows up here in Portland, Oregon. Do I get to buy it? Yes! But do I get to take it? No.....aaaarg. It is the only one that the Dealership is getting, with 12 more on the way 'soon', but no ship or build date yet.

So my wife and I are excited and waiting until this Wednesday when it is on the floor. Don't know what the ruloes of the game are yet but we will have ownership. May be first in Portland but won't know until it arrives.

Actually, it looks exactly like the one on the top of this page; silver with black/red interior.

Wahoo!

I am getting the R/L, plan on keeping them both:D Wouldn't want to be in a position to decide, I do understand how hard it would be. Plan to old #699 for collectable later, figure with low VIN, all paperwork, red interior, it could be WORTH SOMETHING SOME DAY, if not not I will give it to the grandkids:lol:

Presently we are waiting for the AURA dealer image to arrive next month, now that is going to be another incredible car from Saturn. Luxury & HP to boot:thumbs: I am getting real good at waiting, piece of cake after 2+ years of waiting for my SKY:D

Usually when you get a new car you will be satisfied with it for a while then for me atleast the urge to add mods hits... Sometimes it is small visual things, others people add performance parts... I say wait for your car to show up, drive it like you stole it and see if you like it.. Then if it is not enough for you you can pick up the RL..

Good luck :)

I can almost guarantee you will NOT get your money back that you spent ont he Sky by the time the SRL will come out. Why? because by that time you probably won't even have to order Skys or if you do you won't have more than a very short wait. By the time you actually will be able to have a SRL *in your hands* it'll be the end of the year. And once the SRL stops having to be ordered on a regular basis, be prepared for a rather large depreciation drop.... check out the prices of the tires for the car guys... (and yes that's incorporated into depreciation)

Any value to owning a low VIN (first year) Sky is going to be lost to a car dealer. They look at Blue Book (or whatever color it is now) and give you $$ based on that. And yes the SKY will drop in value.
The only way to get the best for your investment is to sell privately. Only the attraction of getting a first year car (even slightly used) is a personal thing. It may not get you your money back (I REALLY doubt that) but you may not lose as much.

See I don't think a year from now the low VIN numbers will help in resale much of any fashion. As per the fact it's a Saturn, there will be minor bugs, minor tweaks that the 08 version will fix. People will prefer the finer tuned version. Plus I'm trying to think of ANY car that has come out in the past however many years that has a better resale value simply becuase it was the first MY of the car?

In a way we both agree... However knowing some car collectors (and in no way saying the SKY is ever going to be a collectible), there are those people who want the low VIN (with all the new run peccadilloes) and would pay more. I wonder how much -- but with the fact that a private sale and that possibility exist -- might help you recover a few $$ more.

Definitely, private sell hands down will get you more. The collector's car is a valid point, but you won't be seeing people 'collecting' the Sky for QUITE a while I don't think ;)
