i was on the PSP tonite and out of nowhere i got the idea that opels owned or at least partially owned by GM. after spending 4 years in germany (home of teh autobahn) i realized that in order for the sky to make such a quick arrival to the states much like teh sol. they had to use available parts to cut back on teh cost of making brand new headlight designs. this is what i came up with. when i first saw it i knew i was wanting one and now i may know why i want the sky so bad.

this is the opel speedster. the vauxhall shares the same lite but i knew that i had seen those lites before. IF its possible that these lites are indeed identical then i have a swap i can do that will knock the socks off the lot of them. notice how all the lites are projector in the opel. im gonna do more research on this but just form eyeing it... they are really really close. on a black car with these lites swapped in place of the stocks would look mean.

i should also mention that im not 100% sure if it would be a good swap over but the resemblace is uncanny dont you think? i hope they can be swapped.
:D mmm that is a beauty
As you said that's the Opel Speedster, sister to the Vauxhal VX220. Both companies are owned by GM. Both cars are based off the Lotus Elise. The Sky is inspired by the Vauxhall VX Lightning which is their version of the Kappa car. There will eventually be an Opel Kappa too. The Elise based and Kappa based cars share nosimilar components. The fact that the head lights alsosit differently in the hood also cause an issue.

I was going to say that looked a lot like an Elise, but I wasn't too sure if I was right.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the new Opel (kappa platform) is replacing the Opel Speedster.

Yes, the Opel GT is replacing it. Don't know about Vaux though since Kappa cannot be RHD.

Sorry - but this is not true.
The Opel GT will be a new roadster here in Europe. The construction period of the speedster was from 1999 till 2004.

I know that this is the sky-forum. I'm waiting for my GT... But I'm the co-admin of the German Speedster-Forum...
The GT will start in Germany in 2. quarter of 2007...

huu - my first post here :) :) and sorry for my English - School is long, long ago ;)
Opel Speedster - Opel GT (Kappa)

I think there are some misunderstandings:
The Opel Speedster produced between 1999 and june 2005 was a modified Lotus Elise also sold as RHD in England as Vauxhall VX220. Before writing again here is a link that I posted a month ago.

IMO Delnari is right, the new Opel GT replaces the Speedster as the only roadster (2 seater, RWD) in the program of GM Europe.
That's no technical comparison but a commercial replacement after a rest period of two years.
The same with the old Opel GT, no technical compariosion even if they have got the same name. Some older members will know the car, round about 70 % of the German production (assembeld in Bochum) was shipped to the USA.

Hardly 35 years of waiting and the car comes back (little modified) :jester:
