I notice a small rubber pad a couple of inches square located under the ingnition key on the steering column. Is that to keep the key ring from scratching the column. It appears to be removable like a plug but I am reluctant to pull it out. Perhaps the Sky and Solstice owneres can enlighten me.

it is to keep your keyring from hitting the hard plastic and making noise mostly, but it does keep it from scratching the column also.
