I wouldn't mind knowing what people think on this because I am looking to upgrade as well. Usuually you guys are pretty good at having at it in the open about these things. I am a bit surprised by the off camera PM thing. I would have thought that this would be a good topic of discussion or argument...

ok, I'm sure Miller just wants to directly address the OP. Well you're in luck Critter.

I have personally owned both the Hahn and DDMWorks intercoolers. Both are tip top quality. I personally never had any fitment issues with both. The Hahn(4") in regards to size is .5 bigger than the DDMWorks(3.5") and has nicely curved endtanks for better flow. The DDMWorks though offers a really COOL(hehe) feature......Extruded core. They have a better description on their website but instead of having traditional bars going across like most intercoolers(like the hahn) you have rounded tubes/pipes. The efficiency of removing heat is therefore increased as you have more surface area exposed to the incoming cooler air. This also aids in the way the intercooler flows.

Anyways, it comes down to your setup.... if you plan on getting a larger Turbocharger then going with the Hahn is the way to go. Getting the Hahn and sticking to the stock turbo is fine but a little overkill. Some people will think " Well its bigger so better cooling, right" Well to some degree yes but not necessarly. You also need to think about that K04 filling that bigger core, not that it can't as I had the Hahn on a K04 without a problem, but just something to think about as it can effect booting times vs stock or the DDMWorks. This is why I say that a larger turbo capable of flowing more CFM would match perfectly with a Hahn.

The DDMWorks is slightly smaller and boost times(though small) will be slightly better as it doesn't need to flill as much as a larger core. Safe to say though that larger Turbo's have been used on DDMWorks intercoolers with awesome results.

Let me also throw this out there. The stock intercooler is actually a well designed FMIC for being what you get from the factory. The only time an issue arises is when you run the car hard(ie Road Racing at a Track or multiple passes at a Drag strip) thus having an aftermarket intercooler becomes a good investment. Other than that, you'll be just fine if your going on road trips or just meets(Car shows) with the stock OEM intercooler.

I have the DDMWORKS IC and was able to recently compare it to the RPI loaner I had while waiting for a replacement.
FYI - intercoolers hate being ripped off by manhole covers

HP Tuners and my Dashboss showed that the DDMWORKS was more efficient in keeping the temps down.

I give it my vote

Over the RPI?? If so I'm impressed...:skep: I'm impressed with DDm's stuff anyways, they are still a supporting vendor here, whereas RPI is long gone..and Hahn is not a SV here that I can see at all, I would go and support the DDM's version unless other "technical" issues make me look for another alternative....besides, going with DDM you get a members discount..;)

Just a question.

He asked about 'Werks' and people figured he meant DDM AutoWorks instead of Performance Auto Werks, which was what I took him to mean.....

I apologize for the private convo. There is good info in this thread. If I was going to buy a cooler, I would probably go with the DDM unit. Its pricey, but it does the best job and has the most room for growth. Many people use this cooler past 400whp w.o issue. All are built well, but some of the cores/end tank designs are just better than the others.

Hahn here. Over 500 whp. Can't say the same for anyone else.

STOP MISINFORMING PEOPLE of your BS claims. You need to change it to "Over 500chp, can't say the same for anyone else". S20G flows 650-675 cfm, which is roughly 500 at most (crank HP) and that's literally up there in boost and a whole lot of timing... 52mm in and 49.2turbine.. Doesn't have enough to push out 500whp. You've never dyno'd on your new setup and have only gone by HP Tuners and crunching some #'s. Do I know that you're making a lot, yes.. 470ish or so but 500whp...NO.

I can't believe people even believe you on this forum. That is why I'm making sure that with every post of your claim I'll make sure to point this out until you give us real world gains since your last dyno, this way you don't lead people astray.

I don't need to prove anything to anyone by the way. I know what I have, I know what I make. You seem to be the one who is angry about something.

That's fine, state what you want but you don't make 500whp, you make 500chp. Look at Hahn's website for yourself at what the turbo is capable of. lol you're slow to boost :p

i just wanna throw this out there... I made 415 on a stock engine, on 93, with meth as a fuel on a dyno dynamics. they typically read 15% lower than other dynos. I know this is a bad subject for a lot of people, but since you want to armchair race... I now have a built engine, e47, and the best tuner. So... I wouldn't rule out 500whp on a dyno dynamics... and dare I say... mid 500s on other dynos!!!!! OH ****!!!!! YOU GOTTA BE DRY ****ING ME!

How much is it to dyno on the dyno dynamics where you live? Jeb I understand what you made the first time and understand that you are definitely making even more power, but its not like I''m telling you this to **** with you, its just fact. I've said it here and in the other thread. I know John does amazing work, so yes you are lucky to have him. I just don't see 500+whp out of a turbo that's in it's efficiency range around 450hp and can max out with fuels such as ethanol(Like you're using)at 500hp. In no way is it mentioned that translates to whp.
