P0455 EVAP Error Code

Hello all!

I'm a hopeful future owner of a Sky, and I've found a local listing for one that mentions the P0455 EVAP error code.

I've read that getting a new OEM gas cap can resolve this issue, but assuming that easy fix doesn't work, is this a major problem for the functionality or performance of the car? Or is it more of an issue of passing emissions tests?

It is definitely an emissions issue, and it will keep the check engine light on. It probably won't affect the engine running.

I understand that I'm not comparing apples-to-apples, but both of my Impalas (2012 and 2017) have generated that same code. In every case (multiple times) it was the purge valve that controls fuel vapors to the intake manifold. It's a known issue with these cars (3.5 and 3.6 V6), GM apparently has done nothing to rectify the issue. I keep a spare in my garage. Fortunately in my case, it's an easy fix.
