Tonight at 10:00 pm Eastern, Top Grear America on the History Channel. It has alot to live up to. :willy:

It's not going to be as good as Top Gear. The hosts make the show. The British humor is half the reason I watch.

If you are expecting it to be any different than some of Spike's "Extreme 4x4" or "TRUCKS!" programs, you will be disappointed.

Yeah I really can't understand why they would want to broadcast a new cast on the same show here in America. Europe gets all the cool cars anyway and the english cast, the exotic locations, the insane stuff they do, and the crap they manage to get away with is halarious.

I just can't see that happening here in America to much politcal correctness.

Sorry there is only one Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. There may have been a few Stigs. They are funny as well as being entertaining.

Anyone can sit in a car and say "oh.... this is fast."

I guess we'll see after the show.

I watched it last night. It's exactly like the British version, except with lame hosts. Same opening music, very similar studio design, same segments, same type of antics, same Stig character, but hosted by 3 clones of James May gone wrong. And what was up with the 3rd guy who did a mile in the lambo? He dropped an f-bomb after every shift? Who does that?

I think I'll stick to catching the original on BBC America.

Who does that? Someone who has never really been pushing a car like that to that extent.

I thought it added a little realism to it, but at the same time made it seem like the guy was just an average Joe being surprised by the power of the car. Why do I want to watch some average Joe driving cool cars? I guess I don't see much appeal in that.

The guy that was trying to act all disappointed was not very believable either. He was also a bit of a know-it-all with regards to the short shifting, and being able to hear the speeds, etc...

The other guy (driving the Gray Lambo) I think I liked him best. I dunno, he just didn't annoy me :)

They also acted a bit too familiar for a pilot episode. They may be familiar with each other, but I think I would have liked to see a bit more "getting to know you" stuff and not just jumping right in like we've been watching them do the show for a while already.

All in all...

I have to agree... :agree:

I still think the original show is better.

I don't see it becoming world wide with 250 million viewers, like the BBC one.
I was watching the comming attractions, they even do the same stunts like the BBC.

The reason the Clarkston, May and Hammond are so good, is because they can drive the cars at insane speeds... and still carry on a conversation and give a review of the car. Any hillbilly can drop an F-bomb when shifting and say "Dawgoone! that there car is faaast...."

I didn't watch the show yet (ill catch it online) but it sounds like a complete failure. (as expected)

Yes I did not like it. I mean they were a straight copy of TopGear on BBC nothing new or innovative about the show.

The guys were ok, but they have no style no (supercar) class or character. They are just plain... If I wanted to see some one drive fast and talk about it Jessica Simpson would have been a better choice.

They need new characters or actors with character. This episode looked like a cheap YouTube copy of TopGear. I think if SNL would have done a skit of TopGear it would have been better.

Their interviews while driving? The shaky camera while they are talking. Really?

In the words of Jeremy "I'd more interested in pulling hairs off my scrotum than listen those guys blither on about the cars!"

What is with them all being the same age. You need a diverse group of people on the team.

My dream team would be Jessie James, Cameron Diaz, and Jay Lenno and if he wont do it Nicolas Cage or Tim Allen. People who know something about nice cars and actually own them/drive them. Also who have character.

Age of host?

 So maybe it is the age of the host, the original host are well "middle age" like myself and have a mature but reflect the kid in all of us while doing the show. The new cast were young bucks, immature from the start, maybe why all the "F" words while shifting. I will give it time maybe the 3 boys will get better at this. Just my :jm2c: They are doing the same stunts, same graphics, same crazy competitions, I did learn which Lamborghini to buy if I was in the market.

Very disappointing and a pale imitation of the original. I'm sure they're nice guys (Adam Ferrara is really good on "Rescue Me" - a great show), but they have absolutely no chemistry together.

Not sure I'll tune back next Sunday.

I didn't dislike it as much as I expected to from seeing the teaser/preview a month or two ago.

I think my issue is that I just don't feel like there's any reason to care what any of the US hosts think- it seems like just three guys who can drive kinda fast screwing around with some nice cars. With the original, there's a feeling that the opinions presented are valid and well-informed. Whether you agree with them or not is another story.

Yes, I agree. . .a short lived show. They seem to have geared the show to the wrong audience. Move it up a notch from those still saving their allowance to those that have the cars.

I watched it sunday night also. And i am a huge fan of the original. I actually thought it was pretty good. If your not comparing it to the original (what CAN you compare to the original?) it was pretty good.

Go watch the early seasons of the Brit TG, some of it is pretty boring. It takes a while for a personality driven show to develop it's chemistry. And the words come from the writers who are getting their feet on the ground.

Even the BBC TG was cancelled at least twice due to poor performance. While there are some classic TG shows, there is also a lot of Clarkson being an a s s and the others trying to kern up. And if I have to hear how anything Amarican is "pure rubbish" out of that blowhard... Well it's very irritating.

Give the show some time to develop and grow into an American show, vice the weak imitation of the BBC one. The previews show some interesting antics to come.

Or would you rather be watching another soap opera or there is always the golph channel.
